DUTIES:
Coordinate efforts with other departments on the Harbor Light Center.
Assist in implementing and supporting work and service with homeless populations.
Adhere to established Policies and Procedures in compliance with The Salvation Army Standards of Service for Social Service Program.
Maintain a safe environment for all Salvation Army personnel and volunteers working with the homeless population.
Support the daily operations of the Street Homeless Outreach and Wellness Services to include other administrative and operational functions as required or requested by the Executive Director(s).
Track, analyze, and input data relevant to the Street Homeless Outreach and Wellness Service program.
Assist in maintaining client case records, social services system (Salvation Army Social Service database(s), HMIS, and required forms and reports are held in the prescribed format.
Assist in providing case management for client referrals and linkages for housing
Assist in providing case management for clients with varying degrees of occupational, social, cultural, and medical impairments hindering self-sufficiency.
Assist in case of management for homeless persons in delivering humanitarian aid and other essential services.
Assist in providing case management by obtaining and maintaining weekly contact with the homeless client to assess and direct all able persons into homeless shelters, substance abuse treatment programs, or related programs and services.
Assist in providing formal and informal referral services to community resources; case management services in a multidisciplinary approach to service delivery.
Facilitate non-clinical program activities on shift.
Monitor clients by non-clinical protocols.
Monitor all persons entering and exiting the building.
Responsible for the security of the premises.
Answer telephones professionally, direct phone calls appropriately, and take messages.
Carry out administrative, database, and clerical and as assigned
Maintain a log of daily activities.
Complete required paperwork, including documentation of all incidents.
Make regular and irregular rounds of the facility.
Responsible for implementing all rules and policies, including the abstinent lifestyle of participants.
Responsible for the knowledge of the fire control system and fire emergency evacuation procedures.
Respond to all emergencies notifying the Program Manager, Program Director, and proper staff and agencies (Police, Fire Department)
Assist with assigned custodial tasks, including washing laundry and linen.
Work with Recovery Counselors and Program Manager to ensure participants are safe and comfortable.
Other tasks as assigned by the Street Homeless Outreach Wellness Team – Program Director, Harbor Light Program – Program Director, and Recovery Wellness Services Program Manager.
Development and Networking
Support all community outreach for the street-bound homeless and substance abuse persons, including managing and supervising volunteer and special events.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Written and Verbal command of the English language.
First Aid and CPR certification (within the first fourteen days of employment – company provided).
Tuberculosis clearance (within the first seven days of work).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and various other office process applications desired.
Being professional, punctual, flexible, and reliable are imperative.
Ability to work within a frequently changing project scope while maintaining overall direction and structured priorities.
Integrity and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task with follow-through
Valid CA Driver License.
Knowledge and professional familiarity with the impact and effects of substance abuse, mental health, and other health & social issues causing homelessness are necessary.
Broad and up-to-date knowledge of community-based resources (e.g., housing, employment placement services, access to medical & dental benefits, etc.)
Familiarity with The Salvation Army’s mission of providing support as needed or directed within the scope of program objectives.
Associates Degree in Social Work or related social services field.
Culturally competent and able to work with a highly diverse population.
Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental illness, and other potential barriers to self-sufficiency.
Bilingual preferred.
Knowledge of clinical documentation.
Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and the trauma-in for the med treatment preferred.
