ACCOMPANIST/MUSICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Choir Director(s), the accompanist is required to accompany the choirs during rehearsals and masses on Sundays, Feast Days, and other special occasion liturgies. As agreed on in the job offering letter, I may be asked to support choir participation in events at other churches and the community.
FLSA STATUS: Part-time, Exempt (Hourly Position)
REPORTS TO: Reports to Choir Director as immediate supervisor.
General Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have:
- Maturity, dependability, self-accountability, and spiritual approach to ministry.
- Good communication and aabilityto maintain good working relationships with Pastor, Choir Director, choir members, and musicians.
- Familiarity with Gospel worship music and Catholic Liturgy
- Willingness to become familiar with current choir repertoire, culture & tradition.
- Advanced piano skills, site read,ing and transposing
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Perform piano accompaniment for practice, rehearsals, and performances of all liturgies (masses on Sundays, Feast Days, and other special occasion liturgies). Expectations are that musician
2. Under the direction of the Choir Director, collaborates about resources before introducing new music to the whole choir.
3. Performs other music-related duties as assigned
Additional Understandings/Responsibilities:
1. Agrees to attend each rehearsal, times set by Choir Director.
2. Must be present at rehearsal one hour before the designated time and at least 45 minutes before the start of the Gospel Mass on Sundays. Hours: 5 per week (2 for rehearsal and 3 for Mass).
3. As mutually agreed, additional services and outsidandch engagements are available.
4. The accompanist/musician shall be available for occasional meetings with Choir Director and pastor/parish administrator at mutually agreeable times.
5. Salary is commensurate with levthe el of experience and as set forth by Archdiocesan Salary Guideline
