Full Job Description

St. Brigid School in San Francisco, which has a strong emphasis on music education, is seeking a qualified string specialist to work with 5th grade and 6th grade once a week each (about 15 students per class). 45 minute classes, but prep is expected, including instrument prep (maintenance of instruments, placing of fingerboard tapes, tuning, etc) and selection of repertoire/exercises.

Violins and violas are school property. Parents pay deposit and are responsible for use and return of instruments. Instruments need to be assigned each student at the beginning of the school year. Classroom music teacher (not string specialist) is responsible for administrative work related to rental of instruments. Pay is $100 for each class session.

Scheduling of string classes to be coordinated with classroom music teacher.

Additional income possible by having after-school string ensembles, for which parents pay or by teaching private lessons (to be coordinated with the school office).
