Job Summary
VISION OF STUDENT MINISTRIESTo engage students with the reality of Jesus, the power of community, and to find growth in maturity.
PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVEProvide the Vision, Strategic Direction, and Leadership to shepherd 5th-12th grade students to find and follow Jesus.  
PRINCIPLE WORKING RELATIONSHIPThis position reports to the Family Ministry Director/Pastor and provides supervision and leadership to the Student Ministry Associate staff and volunteers. The place interacts with Middle School and High School students,  young adults, PCC staff, parents, volunteers, and the broader community.

  • Demonstrates evidence of a Christ-like attitude in words and actions. 
  • Self-starting—able to work independently as a leader willing to be led.
  • Team-oriented: able to work with staff, volunteers, and student leadership team. 
  • Competent computer and time management skills. 
  • Clear understanding of the stages of pre-teen & teen development. Can enjoy the complexity of student ministry.
  • Has a heart and passion for children of all ages and demonstrates patience in working with them. 
  • Outgoing with effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Champion of the vision and values of Student Ministry throughout the church.
  • Has a burning desire to share the Gospel and see students take one step closer to Jesus.
  • Understands that the Bay Area is a mission field. Less than 3% of the Peninsula is aware of a Christian worldview.


SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • In partnership with the Family Ministry Director/Pastor, develop the missional, spiritual, and programmatic direction for Student and Young Adult Ministries.  
  • Pastor student and young adult community of PCC and Redwood City.
  • Give vision and strategic direction to the Student and Young Adult Ministries, providing leadership and support to the following: 
    • Individuals
    • Small groups
    • Large groups
    • Events
    • Retreats
    • Mission trips
  • Raise and develop volunteer teams
  • Provide supervision and guidance to associate staff.
  • Partner in the strategy and implementation to move volunteers towards ownership of ministry by developing healthy and effective leaders.
  • Invest in the lives of students and young adults, creating healthy discipleship pathways.
  • Resource and equip parents as primary disciples alongside Family Ministry staff 
  • Creating, implementing, and administering appropriate policies, procedures, and rules to ensure the safety of all persons.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • A faithful follower of Jesus. 
  • Pastoral Ordination or Licensure track strongly encouraged.
  • Bachelor’s degree or more excellent required.
  • Minimum two years of related experience required.
  • Demonstrable experience in visionary leadership, strategic planning, and effective execution.
  • Ability to lead worship is preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to interact and engage with school-aged youth
  • Must be able to lift, transport, and set up equipment to 30 pounds
  • Extensive walking on 14 acres of campus required
  • Must have a clean, current  DMV record
  • DOJ background clearance required
  • Must adhere to and model PCC’s Safe Church policies

WORKWEEK

  • This job is Full-time with an average of 40 hours per week.  
  • This position will be expected to work on Sundays and some evenings.
