About the Role
Based at affordable housing properties for low-income senior citizens, the Translator is responsible for listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements from one language to another. You will also reproduce notices in another language for unique listening or reading audience. The Translator will be responsible for the accurate translation of documents and emails and attending meetings in which live translations are needed.

Primary Responsibilities
Provide language services to tenants with limited English proficiency.
Relay concepts and ideas between languages and cultural considerations; Explain important information to residents in their native language, and convey residents’ needs and knowledge to English-speaking staff.
Assist tenants in completing forms and routine documents.
Attend and help facilitate staff, residents, and safety meetings.
Convert written materials from one language into another, such as informational brochures, policies, written agreements, publications, or web pages.
Create a new text in the target language that reproduces the content and style of the original.
Edit and proofread text to accurately reflect language.
Receive and submit assignments electronically.
Use dictionaries and glossaries for reference.
Employ computer-assisted translation.
Read aloud documents in a language other than that in which they were written.
Maintain positive rapport and communication with residents, co-workers, manager, Portfolio Manager, corporate staff, regulatory agencies, the Board of Directors (if contacted), and other community constituents.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements
A high school graduate or GED is required.
Must be fluent in at least two languages.
Proof of language fluency.
Must have prior experience doing translations.
Experience in HUD and Tax Credit housing is helpful but not required.
CCH conducts background checks on all candidates who have received a conditional job offer. Satisfactory completion of background checks is a requirement of employment with CCH.
A valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, personal auto insurance as required by law, and an MVR sufficient to obtain and reasonably maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies are essential job requirements.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communications, listening, presentation, group facilitation, influencing, and negotiations.
Proficient with a Microsoft Office 365 platform and ability to quickly learn the organization’s other systems.
Prior experience in an affordable housing environment is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to serve with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Ability to prioritize tasks and consistently meet project deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective use of mediation and conflict resolution techniques and processes for influencing performance management; Ability to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.

Physical Requirements
Generally, minimal physical exertion is required—prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional lifting of heavy boxes and presentation materials occurs. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Occasional local travel (10%) as appropriate. Must access and navigate properties and the organization’s various office facilities.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
