Job Description

Position: Tribunal Auditor-Case Manager
Reports to: Tribunal Manager and Judicial Vicar
FLSA Status: Part-time, non-exempt (19 hours per week)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Serves as a canonical auditor and case manager in the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of San
Francisco. The executive staff of the Tribunal will train a strong office administrator to perform the duties of this role.

Job duties:

-Share responsibility with the other auditor for opening daily mail and distributing correspondence and paperwork to the appropriate tribunal staff member.

- Answer personal desk telephone calls and tribunal main telephone at the direction of the Judicial Vicar and the
Tribunal Manager. Return voicemails from both telephone extensions. Answer all e-mails, or if necessary, forward e-mail to the appropriate tribunal staff member.

-Input into the Case Master database any newly received marriage nullity case information and premarital permissions and dispensations requests.

-See that requested permissions and dispensations are reviewed by one of the tribunal priests promptly and, once approved, mailed to the appropriate destination. When requested permission or dispensation is missing necessary accompanying documentation, contact the requester to obtain it.

-Contact the appropriate parties (petitioner, respondent, witness) to set up an interview. In consultation with the
Judge, conduct testimonial interview in person or by telephone, or obtains testimony via written questionnaire when necessary. Transcribe testimonial interviews, and if done in Spanish, translate to English.

-Keep the petitioner informed of the status of the case in conjunction with the Advocate.

-Handle requests for testimony from other dioceses as needed.

-Conduct "publication of the acts" of a case by sitting with the petitioner and respondent individually while they review the testimony.

-Bind completed case files for storage in the tribunal "vault."

-Photocopy case files for forwarding when appeals to a higher tribunal are made, including the necessary index when sent to the Tribunal of the Roman Rota.

-Maintains office hours as agreed by the Auditor and the Judicial Vicar and Tribunal Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Mature Catholic in good standing

Excellent English is written and verbal communication skills
The ability to speak and write Spanish is a plus.
Strong interpersonal skills

Proven experience in interviewing, auditing, and documenting interviews
Experienced in employee relations

Proven experience in the small team workgroup
Proven ability to manage large workflow and meet deadlines
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word
Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities

Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality

Will train a detail-oriented individual that in addition to qualifications, possesses a strong sense of discretion regarding sensitive matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred
Some understanding of canon law
