The Youth Ministry Leader will plan, promote and implement programs and ministries that lead and inspire the faith journey of the high school and middle school youth in our congregation. As a part-time member of the staff, the Youth Ministry Leader is a part-time, salaried position (25% of full-time) averaging 10 hours a week. This position reports directly to the Pastor who is the head of staff. Responsibilities include leading youth group meetings and other activities. The Youth Ministry Leader will coordinate confirmation classes (which will be led by the pastor and elder(s), and guide additional study opportunities, and faith-formation experiences. Assistance and encouragement are provided by a team of church members and parents committed to supporting our teenagers on their faith journeys.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead regular meetings for High School and Middle School youth (combined)
- Connect with youth in an approachable way to share and model personal faith in action
- Evaluate and recommend youth program materials to best meet the spiritual development needs of High school and Middle school youth
- Coordinate a faith-formation series designed for confirmation in our PC(USA) congregation
- Build relationships with youth, parents, and church members, including sharing youth ministry information with the congregation
- Communicate information about the youth programs on the church website and Facebook page, weekly church email messages, periodic reports to the ruling elders of the church, and on social media platforms
- Attend Sunday worship services at First Presbyterian Church of Alameda
- Collaborate with the Pastor concerning youth participation in worship and other church-family activities
- Plan and monitor youth program expenses against budget, including submission of annual budget requests
Salary
$1,000 month (salaried, part-time, regular-hire payroll employee). Funding is confirmed for three to four months with the potential for extending to be an ongoing position.
