Nature and Scope
This position is under the direct supervision of the childcare coordinator and general supervision of the Senior Pastor.
The person assuming this position will be sympathetic to and uphold the mission of St. John’s UMC, the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, the United Methodist denomination as a whole, and the Christian Faith.
Overview
Childcare workers are responsible for taking care of young children during church services and other church events. Current needs are for church services (every Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.) but it is possible for more hours to be opened up as the nursery needs are expanded.
Duties
- Supervise and monitor the safety of children aligned with St. John's safe sanctuary guidelines
- Help children keep good hygiene
- Keep the nursery tidy
- Make sure parents are signing children in and out
- Take care of children’s basic needs, including dressing, changing diapers, feeding, and supervising play and nap times
Expectations/Requirements
- 16 years or older
- Reliable transportation
- Must have CPR certification or get certified 30 days after employment (If you are not CPR certified, we are happy to help get your certification)
- Consent to and pass a background check

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
