The primary mission of the LCEF is to provide financial resources, support and related services for ministry, witness and outreach of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debit instruments. Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following: provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; rostered church worker education; the residential housing needs of rostered church workers; and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.

Reporting Relationships


Loan Processing Specialist I reports to Loan Processing Manager.

Summary


The Loan Processing department is responsible for communicating approved loan terms, obtaining and reviewing all loan conditions necessary for finalizing and producing proper legal documentation for all loan types (permanent loans, construction loans, refinance existing loans, etc.) and providing escrow services.

Essential Job Functions

  • In accordance with the loan approval (underwriting) and loan policies, prepare all Approval letters and notify the ministry’s contact to explain the loan terms, details of the process and any unique requirements in the borrower’s state.
  • In accordance with state statues and loan policies, prepare all title and borrower closing letter/instructions and closing packages for all loan types: secured, unsecured, limited secured and note modifications, including converting construction loans to permanent loans.
  • Prepare all legal files for post close of all loan and escrow files.
  • Prepare all Partial and Full Satisfactions/Releases and Demand Letters.
  • Review corporate documents and prepare borrowing resolutions.
  • Place orders with all applicable third parties (title, appraisal, flood cert., insurance, etc.) and assist borrower with meeting all loan conditions.
  • Responsible for preparing, filing, monitoring, amending, and terminating all Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) forms with the applicable county and state.
  • Analyze title commitments to satisfy requirements, address exceptions, ensuring lien position and coverage is in accordance to the loan policy/requirements and procedures.
  • Obtain and audit application for payment and invoices, sworn statements, lien releases, W-9 forms for all construction and insurance disbursements.
  • Review, analyze and balance project budget statements and contracts on all construction projects ensuring there are sufficient dollars to complete the project.
  • Authorize/deny payment for loan disbursements for all loan types disbursed in increments (excluding Lines of Credit).
  • Process 1099 forms and IRS reports at year-end.
  • Monitor/track and document Letters of Credit.
  • Responsible for monthly Metrics and Escrow reporting to management and Senior Leadership.
  • Responsible for the integrity, testing and maintaining three (3) core loan systems (loan origination, loan documentation and escrow/disbursing).
  • Monitor open loan deals to ensure files are being processed in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Loan Specialist Lead(s), Loan Specialist(s), Manager Loan Processing and the Vice President, Loan Administration in any and all other assignments from time to time as required.
  • Comply with revisions made from time to time, after mutual consultation, in this position description.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience and progressive responsibility in commercial loans or real estate.
  • Prior experience working for a bank, credit union or title company, preferred.

  • Knowledge of commercial loan procedures and of loan financing, including loan documentation, coupled with an understanding of construction disbursement procedures.
