All About You

Job Summary:
Under general direction, assists instructors with design, development, and modification of course content using evolving technologies; facilitates programs and develops resources in support of the Reinert Center’s mission and the University’s educational initiatives and mission.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include any and/or all of the following:
1. Consults and collaborates with faculty and graduate students to determine goals, objectives, and appropriate delivery methods, media, and technologies for instruction.
2. Provides technical expertise to produce and/or support the production of multimedia content, interactive learning tools, and other instructional materials.
3. Facilitates workshops and other pedagogical programs and develops resources on teaching and learning with technology in support of the Center’s mission and the University’s educational initiatives and mission.
4. Researches evidence-based teaching, assessment, and instructional design methods and emerging technologies to enhance online, blended, and face-to-face, blended courses.
5. Regularly participates in professional development activities to advance knowledge and skills in instructional design and educational development; performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Thorough knowledge of current technological tools for online and hybrid education (e.g., webconferencing, lecture capture, cloud-based applications, etc.)

Demonstrated ability to develop effective online courses in a learning management system(e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)

Thorough knowledge of current distance education theory and practice, including familiaritywith university-level curriculum development and instructional methods

Strong ability to develop and conduct training sessions for a variety of audiences, both face-to-face and virtual, focused on pedagogical uses of technology and on effective practices indistance education

Excellent listening, speaking, and writing skills

Ability to manage multiple complex projects effectively and independently

Ability to work with faculty from multiple disciplines and with a variety of teaching styles

Strong commitment to collaboration and working as part of a team

Sensitivity to personal nature of issues related to teaching improvement and understanding of faculty/academic culture, with a demonstrated commitment to faculty/graduate student development

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree, at least two (2) years of experience teaching asynchronous online courses in an academic discipline at the college/university level, or three (3) to five (5) years of experience working with instructors in a higher education setting on instruction, courses, and curriculum. Preferred qualifications: Five (5) or more years of online course experience at the college/university level and demonstrated experience working with instructors on instructional design/development.
