Parish Maintenance and Custodian
Position summary:
Provides routine and preventative maintenance and upkeep for parish/school buildings and grounds including: semi-skilled carpentry, simple plumbing and electrical work, painting and other minor repair work. Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems. Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and performs required maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, and filter changes. Grounds work includes mowing, pruning and ice & snow removal with grounds equipment.
Performs daily and as-needed custodial work in the parish/school buildings including: daily trash removal; daily cleaning of classrooms, school offices, and cafeteria; as-needed cleaning of Church and parish office; as-needed cleaning of spills, vomit, etc. in school.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleans school, church and other parish buildings. Mops and vacuums floors, cleans bathrooms, washes windows and performs other cleaning activities as-needed
Maintains grounds: mows, waters and edges lawns; performs snow removal with hand shovels and puts down salt/ice melt on walkways; blows walkways, weeds, prunes and rakes as-needed on a seasonal basis
Performs minor maintenance of the school, rectory, church, and/or other Parish buildings
Provides other general assistance as needed through set-up of tables and chairs in facilities, as-requested
Hauling and moving items and picking up parts or other equipment as-requested by staff
Collects and disposes of trash and garbage
Reports cleaning and grounds maintenance inventory needs to Pastor
Maintains an inventory of supplies for lighting and cleaning and orders supplies as-needed
Deep-cleans school classrooms and strips/waxes school floors in summer
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
Position requires knowledge of and experience with light carpentry work
Minor repair work on the facilities, as needed
Some janitorial experience preferred
Position requires frequent evenings and/or weekend hours
Frequent lifting, ability to lift 50 pounds
Exposure to climate changes and temperatures
Knowledge and use of industrial strength cleaning chemicals
Standing for long periods
Climbing ladders
On-call availability for emergencies

Relationship Requirements:
1.Reports to the Pastor
2.Must be able to work with Pastor and Principal
3.Must have ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision and be self-motivated
