Romero Academy at Resurrection is an independent Catholic elementary school in Cincinnati, Ohio, operated by Seton Education Partners. In 2019, Seton partnered with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the Catholic Inner-city Schools Education Fund (CISE) to transition the existing Resurrection of Our Lord School to a new academic and governance model. In addition to investing in the students and facility, Romero Academy at Resurrection is committed to academically and financially investing in its staff via weekly coaching meetings, systematic professional development, and competitive compensation. Inspired by the words of St. Oscar Romero, our students will “aspire not to have more, but to be more” and develop the virtue, knowledge, and academic skills necessary to thrive in a selective college preparatory high school, college, and beyond. Teacher salaries are competitive with the local public school districts, starting at $42,000 annually.

About this Position

Romero Academy at Resurrection teachers partners with families to form future saints by developing the intellect, cultivating character, and engaging the faith of each scholar. We are looking for highly dedicated educators who bring an unwavering commitment to helping every scholar achieve their God-given potential.

The primary responsibilities of a Grade 6+7 Teachers include:

  • Internalizing and executing rigorous lesson plans while differentiating to meet the learning needs of all students.
  • Creating and maintaining a learning environment where every scholar feels safe, loved, and inspired to learn and grow.
  • Supporting a school culture focused on faith, academic achievement, and character development.

Additionally, Resurrection teachers must possess a commitment to partner with families, a dedication to serving all students, and a desire to seek and implement feedback and grow professionally. At the 6th and 7th grade levels, students will switch teachers for ELA and mathematics instruction. One teacher will specialize in mathematics content and education, while the other will do the same for ELA.

Main Responsibilities

  • Internalize, individualize, and execute lesson plans in assigned content areas.
  • Teach targeted lessons to small groups within a rotational blended learning model.
  • Lead instruction using a rigorous curriculum that inspires intellectual curiosity, reinforces learning joy and enables all students to thrive.
  • Teach all lessons with rigor, joy, and urgency.
  • Engage in an ongoing data-driven assessment, analysis, and action cycle.
  • Achieve meaningful student achievement and growth results aligned to the school's mission and annual goals.
  • Implement school-wide systems for academics, culture, and character development.
  • Connect with families through frequent phone calls, emails, conferences, and notes.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with students and parents that drive students to love learning and make exceptional academic gains.
  • Participate in two weeks of summer training before school’s opening.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Commit to teaching an extended school year.
  • Help students develop a personal relationship with Christ.

The ideal candidate will bring experience, skills, and beliefs in the following areas:

  • Living as a faith-filled and practicing Catholic who understands and honors the teachings of the Catholic Church and is passionate about sharing the Catholic faith
  • A master’s degree in an aligned content area and developmental level is preferred; a bachelor’s degree, teaching certification, and a desire to help students grow in faith, virtue, and intellect are required.
  • A passion for being part of team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.
  • Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally underserved students.
  • Spanish fluency is preferred.
  • The flexibility in a fast-paced school environment and responsiveness to students’ needs.
  • Safe Parish certification (Protecting God’s Children); can be earned after being hired.
