Our early learning center is looking to hire a Childcare Teacher to join our School Family! The candidate will act as as Assistant Teacher in a preschool-age classroom alongside the Lead Teacher and another Assistant Teacher, working together as a teaching team. The Assistant Teacher must be energetic and engaging, empathetic, and reliable. The Assistant Teacher must be friendly, provide patience and sense of humor, and act as a team player within the classroom. The Assistant Teacher is expected to communicate in a professional, friendly manner with children, parents, families, teachers and staff. The candidate shall keep up with proper training and requirements per ODJFS and Step Up to Quality. Some of the duties and responsibilities of the Childcare Teacher include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Implementation of the daily schedule and weekly lesson plan,
  • Engaging in play with children and working through problem-solving skills, conflict resolution and Conscious Discipline,
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment,
  • Assisting children through transitions (singing songs, reading stories, guiding children from one place to the next, playing transitional games, etc.),
  • Assisting with meal times while encouraging self-help skills and communication among peers,
  • Assisting with naptime by creating a calm, comforting environment,
  • Opening or closing classrooms for the day (duties specific to Openers/Closers and posted within classrooms),
  • Documenting observations of child development,
  • Brainstorming activities with the teaching team,
  • Assisting in the development of goals for children

Requirements:

  • Minimum of HS Diploma AND MUST be willing to earn CDA through certification program (tuition-free assistance),
  • Minimum of 2 years professional experience working within early learning center,
  • MUST be able to pass FBI/BCI background check,
  • MUST be able to lift 50 lbs., pass workplace physical; must have mobility and must be physically able to complete duties and provide quality care for young children,
  • MUST follow all COVID-19 policies and procedures, must be able to wear face coverings throughout shift (if/when mandatory)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

COVID-19 considerations:

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • childcare: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
