POSITION OVERVIEW: The Communication & Media Coordinator works at the direction of the Executive Pastor to plan, create, organize, and implement of all aspects of communication strategies, messages and mediums for both internal and external audiences including the aesthetic and technical aspects of live and production oriented AVL (audio, visual, lighting) worship and activities. The
Communication Coordinator leads the creative process and ensures overall continuity of Florence Christian Church's brand strategy and image, working closely with the pastoral staff and in collaboration with the leadership and all ministry teams.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Create awareness and momentum for the church’s mission and ministries through the church’s internal communication channels by:

  • Creating, editing, and producing print materials including weekly bulletins, brochures, flyers, postcards, event promotions, and promotional slides.
  • Creating, editing, and producing quarterly church magazine.
  • Creating, editing, and producing written communications for the Pastors (for example letters, announcements, emails, sermon series promotions and stewardship support materials).
  • Capturing and communicating inspiring stories of life change within the church.

2. Reach and serve those beyond the walls through the church’s walls by:

  • Designing and executing a local marketing strategy and promotional materials to target audiences in the community, consistent with identified key directions for congregational growth using the most applicable and effective mediums.

3. Enhance the church’s digital ministry by:

  • Proactively lead efforts to create and maintain impactful digital communications strategies, including an effective web presence.
  • Develop and execute a social media messaging strategy to build an audience of followers.
  • Lead efforts to create and maintain video communications, integrating them into our online and social networks as well as on-campus.
  • Through our online worship by overseeing video production for live stream and pre- recorded worship services, including capturing, live streaming, editing, and uploading to the website ensuring that our video production is aligned with our overall communications strategy and design.

4. Develop a quality, distraction free technical vision for Spirit-filled Christ-centered worship experiences in the areas of AVL (audio visual lighting) by:

  • Providing leadership and oversight to all technical support (audio, video, lighting, and video production) for weekly, seasonal, and special worship services to ensure that we are developing an aesthetic atmosphere representative of the church’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Developing a robust and sustainable Worship Media Team by recruiting, training, equipping, scheduling and leading technical worship staff and volunteers for all positions on the Worship Media Team including sound tech, video production, media assistant, and graphic designers.
  • Supporting the AVL needs of the whole church by coordinating technical support for special events such as congregational meetings, Discover Zone programs, and other congregational events.

5. Create and maintain consistency of all messages and materials of the highest quality by:

  • Serving as the brand manager to articulate the identity, culture, and vision of Florence Christian with consistent high-quality branding in content and graphics presentation.
  • Ensuring adherence by all ministry areas to established design guidelines/standards.
  • Assuring excellence in all aspects of written, broadcast, and electronic communications through intentional, concise, and careful writing, design, editing, proofreading and production.

6. Develop a comprehensive and cooperation communications strategy by:

  • Cultivating, equipping, and encouraging a team of volunteers to serve as writers, photographers, designers, and consultants.
  • Collaborating with contractors/vendors, clergy, and staff to accomplish communication goals.
  • Developing effective processes, defining communication priorities, and overseeing project workflows.
  • Serving as a consultant on key initiatives and projects, brainstorming creative communication resources and ideas to further ministry specific initiatives and outcomes.

7. Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with local media and community organizations by:

  • Develop a robust understanding of key media outlets, opportunities, trends and partnering resources in the local community to build bridges and create maximum exposure for Florence Christian through leveraging non-paid advertising.

  • Ableto communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field preferred. Minimum of five years of related experience.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and able to self-teach software systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Shared office space and computer equipment on-campus will be provided along with remote access.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines.

COMPENSATION

  • Florence Christian Church operates on a pay scale model based on directly related experience, years of service, and education. The minimum entry level starting wage $19.83 per hour.
  • As a 20+ hour part-time employee, you will receive employer paid short-term disability, generous PTO, discounted childcare, access to employee other insurance and retirement options. We are currently unable to provide health insurance.
