JOB SUMMARY - FULL TIME
The Data Scientist helps the Crossroads organization make better data-driven decisions by using advanced predictive analysis techniques to craft compelling stories out of our behavioral data. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of statistics, mathematics, and data science programming languages (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Strong technical ability, excellent problem-solving, modeling, and communication skills are needed for this position. They will own volunteer relationships and partner with the data engineering team to ensure data quality and consistency. A background in managing data from end to end (acquisition to modeling) is critical. They will ensure analyses are performed at the highest caliber and are expected to become a subject matter expert in our data science platform. Their work will impact Crossroads’ strategy and help us better serve our community.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads the Data Science strategy and implementation for Crossroads.
- Performs data mining, exploration, and analysis.
- Assists with designing and implementing aggregate data models in our SQL data warehouse.
- Designs, trains, and implements machine learning algorithms.
- Leverages predictive models to optimize ministry engagement.
- Creates data visualizations, reports, dashboards, and data audits.
- Works cross-functionally with our data and digital product teams.
- Acts as a subject matter expert in industry knowledge and studies the latest trends.
- Coaches junior data analysts on the team.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Economics, Statistics, Business, or another related field.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Understands data tools and visualization software. Has experience with any of the following or similar visualization platforms: PowerBI, Tableau, MicroStrategy.
- Proficient in data transformation using SQL.
- Proven experience creating machine learning algorithms and proficiency with data science platforms/languages ( R, Python, SAS, SPSS, JMP, DataIKU)
- Knowledge of various machine learning techniques (clustering, decision trees, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
- Skilled in formulating an analytical problem.
- Experience with MS Office and G Suite.
- Can focus on multiple projects at the same time and can deliver on pre-defined timelines.
- Must commit to expectations in the Crossroads’ “I Promise” document, including using the Bible as the ultimate standard of truth, practicing spiritual disciplines, and pursuing personal purity.
Physical Qualifications:
- Performs effectively under pressure and against strict time constraints.
- Must be able to work in common office conditions (sitting at a desk, working on a computer for 60 minutes at a time, etc.)
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field, such as statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or business analytics.
A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers such as Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Youtube Studio, bitmovin, Vimeo, resi, and more.
Scheduling / Travel Requirements:
Typically 9 am-5 pm M-F, but some nights and weekends are required.
Travel outside of Cincinnati is rare but possible.
