Overview:

Knox Presbyterian Church seeks a talented, trustworthy, Finance Manager. In this position the primary responsibility is to ensure complete and accurate financial management of the Church assets and daily operations. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent maintains the financial records of Knox Church and Preschool; prepares monthly Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and ministry expense reports; manages all bill payments; supervises the receipt and recording of pledges and income, maintains pledge records and provides analytical statistics for stewardship; compiles the church budget and participates in the budget process; develops and maintains accounting and reporting processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adapt accounting systems to meet current accounting standards and management reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete, accounting records.
  • Maintain digital filing of financial documentation and reporting records, including all

Church and Endowment Fund bank statements and reconciliations to the accounting records.

  • Maintain files for Bequests, Trusts, Wills, as provided by members or executors.
  • Prepare and record all authorized disbursements for the Church and Preschool.
  • Coordinate the counting of offerings and ensure systems are in place to receive and record all income.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for Knox Church and Preschool, quarterly statements for Knox Music Series, TYLS, and Montreat and other quarterly and annual reports as requested.
  • * Prepare, mail/e-mail donor Contribution Statements four times per year and coordinate all gift acknowledgements, including memorials.
  • Participate in the Budget and Finance Committee with the budget process and development of annual budget planning. Analyze data and make recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the Stewardship Committee on the Annual Stewardship Campaign, including providing analytical data and trends.
  • Collaborate with the Budget and Finance Committee to ensure relevance of financial

Policy & Procedure, to include review/update accordingly.

  • Maintain banking relationships and update signatories as authorized.
  • Oversea authorized administration of checking accounts, savings accounts, and certificates of deposit and reconcile all bank accounts monthly.
  • Develop/facilitate internal audit and external audit in accordance with Knox policy.
  • Participate in weekly staff and supervision meetings, and monthly Budget and Finance meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned under the direction of the Executive Director and/or

Budget and Finance Committee.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with general accounting and financial management. (Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting discipline preferred).
  • Must have high ethical and professional standards with strong communication skills.
  • Must be highly organized and able to work independently and with a team.
  • Must have experience in preparation and management of annual budgets, fund accounting, and related recordkeeping. (Experience with Church accounting processes preferred).
  • Proficient in computer applications including QuickBooks, MS Office Suite, Excel, and

Church management software (Service Keeper).
