Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to lead the reinvention of the Parish Health Ministry program in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio and Diocese of Kentucky, as well as the expansion to additional denominations, geographic locations, and services / support offered.. This position is responsible for the development, growth, and overall management of ERS’s Parish Health Ministry (PHM) program, including hiring, training and supervising the PHM Coordinators and developing partnerships with faith-based community leaders and volunteers.

Casts a vision for the PHM program that capitalizes on the strengths of ERS and incorporates the feedback from stakeholders including program objectives, financial metrics, and outcomes.

Expands PHM beyond the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio to include the areas of Louisville and Lexington by developing parish partners.

Intentionally strives to have a diverse group of parish partners to represent ERS’s We Can Do Better goals and initiatives.

Presents the concept to interested congregations, community groups, and organizations; to provide consultation and training to leaders of congregations within their Parish Health Ministry program; and to give ongoing guidance to the Parish Health Ministry’s liaison and program in the congregation.

Provides leadership for the development and ongoing success of the ERS PHM program, support to PHM coordinators as needed, financial and administrative responsibilities, coordinating with other departments within ERS.

Consults with congregational leadership and other appropriate members on the development of Parish Health Ministry programs within the congregation or enhancement of a partner’s health ministry.

Staff and lead the PHM team by recruiting, hiring, managing, and supporting staff members in accordance with ERS’s human resources standards and process.

Provides opportunities for continuing education and training including but not limited to support and networking group.

Acts as a liaison for access to appropriate community resources as needed by parish nurses and health ministers.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess, as a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a business or health related field required.
- Prefer as a minimum, five years prior nursing or health care related experience.
- Minimum of three years management experience required.
- Must be fully vaccinated, including eligible boosters, with the COVID-19 vaccination.
- Willingness to travel to congregations across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
- Knowledge of the Episcopal Church preferred.
- Prior knowledge and experience with parish health ministries preferred.
- Familiarity with or experience working within a church or faith community.
- Knowledge of and experience in holistic health concepts, wellness, and health promotion.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills required.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with all personality types.
- Must be able to transport self to assigned churches.
