JOB SUMMARY
Crossroads is a thriving, multi-site church with over 35,000 people who attend any given weekend. We want our church to reflect the Kingdom of God displayed through our staff. With that in mind, we are continuously looking for diverse candidates. The Volunteer Engagement Director is responsible for promoting and enabling strong Volunteerism at Crossroads. This person can expect their work to focus on vision casting, creating culture and supporting the site ministries as they work to cultivate vibrant volunteer teams through recruitment, onboarding and momentum building 1x serves.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with sites and ministry leads to understand Crossroads' volunteer needs and develop a recruitment calendar that works to continually build our site volunteer teams.
  • Support Connections Director in planning and executing volunteer and community communication plans and events.
  • Conducts an annual survey to stay in touch with volunteer needs & develop subsequent annual action plans in partnership with Leader Academy.
  • Connect with Leader Academy work on Volunteer and Leader Development to provide a seamless and successful system for volunteering across all sites and ministries
  • Support sites and ministries as they work to engage people in volunteering including owning the website Volunteer Portal(Volunteer Central) and all the updates needed to stay relevant.
  • Keenly aware of all volunteer needs across the sites
  • Develop volunteering 101 and the back end of onboarding volunteers
  • Develops Big Event 1x serves recruitment, communication, and follows up with those volunteers to onboard them to more ongoing serving opportunities.
  • Create inviting experiences to welcome potential and new volunteers to Crossroads
  • Provide system improvement on how to onboard new volunteers across all ministries as effectively and efficient as possible.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

Experience / Skills Requirements:

  • Visionary to staff and volunteers about volunteering at Crossroads
  • Develop authentic ongoing relationships with leaders, staff and volunteers
  • Work collaboratively with all departments, ministries and site teams
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Skilled in church management systems or technically skilled and ability to learn and train others
  • Connector of people/Networker
  • Strong Leader- Able to build teams and processes
  • Systems oriented to manage the onboarding of all volunteers
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience leading or influencing sites and ministries
  • Spiritually mature, able to invest ongoing spiritual capital into the team

Critical Qualities:

  • Takes initiative to understand departmental objectives, adapts to a changing and fluid environment, and proactively solves problems.
  • Disciplined with priorities and execution deadlines.
  • Willing to fully integrate into the Crossroads community at large.
  • Possess strong ethic of servant leadership and a passion for shared team goals.
  • Must commit to expectations in the Crossroads’ “I Promise” document.

Physical Requirements:

  • Performs effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints.
  • Must be able to walk up to 5 miles, standing, climbing, lifting, pulling, and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, and stooping as duties required.
  • Must be able to lift up 25 to 50 lbs.

Scheduling / Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to work Sunday through Thursday at various sites with the public. Must have a vehicle to drive to sites.
  • Must be able to work a full work week and flex to a weekend day as needed by project.
