Position Purpose: To direct and lead youth programming for 7th - 12th grade students. We are a small church seeking a Youth Ministry Leader who will develop and build a healthy and vibrant youth ministry through Christian community, ministry opportunities and relationships with young people to strengthen and grow their faith in Jesus Christ.

Employee’s Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement activities for students to promote community through faith development, fellowship, outreach, missions and fun events. Such activities will include: small group Bible study, Sunday School, retreats, youth group and service projects (missions/outreach).
  • Recruit adult volunteers to work with Middle and High School age groups and ensure volunteer support for youth to adult ratios.
  • Coordinate fund-raising activities, as appropriate, to support special youth activities and trips.
  • Source out and schedule quarterly youth service projects. Work with REACH Leader to coordinate mission projects.
  • Prepare and maintain yearly annual budget. Manage the disbursement of budgeted funds for Youth Ministry within the guidelines of the approved budget and in adherence with the purchasing policies of the church.
  • Attend staff meetings, discipleship team meetings, and other leadership meetings as scheduled.
  • Coordinate youth activities with other ministries of the church and staff as needed.
  • Encourage young people to participate and serve in ministries of OCC.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with youth parents.
  • Communicate all youth activities with youth and their parents.
  • Partner with pastors to lead Confirmation Ministry providing leadership for parents and youth as needed.
  • Keep office staff updated with schedule of Youth activities. Keep the congregation informed of youth events (e.g. monthly newsletter, announcements, etc.)
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to be accessible to youth, parents, staff and the leadership of the congregation.
  • Ensure that the Child Protection Policy is observed in all youth ministry settings.
  • Be available to maintain an average weekly schedule of 10-12 hours per week.

Qualifications:

  • A saving relationship with Jesus Christ, and willingness to set the example in the regular practice of personal prayer and Bible study.
  • 2+ years’ experience leading Youth Ministry
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with coursework in theology/religion a plus.
  • Demonstrated Spiritual development of people.
  • Experience building/leading teams of volunteers.
  • Living a life of Evangelism.
  • Teaching the Word of God, Biblically and Reformed Theology.
