Welcoming the Stranger!

Metroplex Literacy Conference 2022

Join faith and community-based literacy teachers and volunteers for a day of networking and learning.

Workshops offered for teachers of ESL, ESL Ministries, and Adult Basic Literacy programs (faith- and community-based).

Speaker Dr. Joseph Boomenyo

Dr. Joseph holds a Doctoral Degree of Theology in Ministry, Master of Arts in Leadership and Management, and an Executive Master’s Degree in Peace, Leadership, and Governance. He is the Founder and Executive Director for Refugee Empowerment Network, a registered non-profit organization based in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. He is an international speaker, church planter, and pastor.

Dr. Joseph Boomenyo has written this book to reveal refugees' courage, resilience, potential, and ability to move from being liabilities to assets. The book is packed with stories worth telling that no one else can say to them better than the person who lived them. Dr. Joseph has been forced to leave his country of origin and habitual residence due to the civil war and lived in a land of asylum as a refugee for twenty years. This man has experienced and seen with his own eyes the misery, vulnerability, and plight of refugees living in various refugee camps in African countries. He decided to sacrificially invest his time, spiritual gifts, talents, knowledge, and abilities to contribute to the empowerment of his fellow refugees and other vulnerable people in communities through capacity-building. He calls for collective action, solidarity, and strong partnership in addressing the plight of refugees around the world.
