General Description
Assistant to the Director of Music & Liturgy at Saint Patrick Catholic Church. They are an integral role in the success of the liturgical and music ministries, and a lead in funeral, wedding, and quinceanera care ministries. This role will also be tasked with overseeing the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) processes and administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Liturgical Ministries
• Creates and leads an Art & Environment Ministry for the Church campus in accordance with the liturgical norms of the Church.
• Creates and maintains the Clergy Binders for weekend and Holy Day liturgical celebrations throughout the year.
• Maintains the master inventory of all liturgical supplies including, but not limited to, hosts, wine, candles, incense, and altar linens.
• Responsible for the overall set-up and clean-up of weekend Masses.
• Expected to attend monthly Worship Committee and Clergy meetings.
• Coordinates with Safe Environment Coordinator to ensure that all liturgical volunteers are up to date on their required diocesan trainings.
Music Ministries
• Creates and maintains the Parish Choir, Handbells, and Youth Choir binders for weekly rehearsals, weekend Masses, and Holy Day liturgical celebrations throughout the year.
• Assists with check-in processes for musical ensemble rehearsals as needed in the evening.
• Oversees the printing of worship aids for weekend Masses and Holy Days in a timely fashion.
• Coordinates with Safe Environment Coordinator to ensure that all pastoral musicians are up to date on their required diocesan trainings.
Funerals, Weddings, and Quinceaneras
• Meets with grieving families to select appropriate readings and music for funeral services.
• Occasionally, will meet with newly engaged couples, or those preparing for convalidation, to select appropriate readings and music for the Sacrament of Marriage celebrations.
• Gather required paperwork as part of Sacrament of Marriage filing and auditing processes.
• Set-up and clean-up of all funerals, weddings, and quinceaneras as needed throughout the year.
• Oversees the printing of worship aids in a timely fashion as needed throughout the year.
Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
• Oversee and implement the proper process and curriculum, according to the norms of the Church, for the OCIA process.
• Facilitate the, already in place, OCIA leadership and team of volunteers.
• Collaborate with LifeStage Ministries Team as needed throughout the year.
• Collaborate with the Director of Music & Liturgy to study and implement the liturgical rites needed throughout the year.
• Attend all liturgical celebrations that involve the OCIA participants.
• Attend OCIA gatherings on Monday evenings as needed.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Active in the Roman Catholic faith and commitment to function in a manner consistent with the mission of the Roman Catholic Church
• Knowledge of the Roman Catholic liturgy, including liturgical seasons and rites.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to professionally communicate, minister to, and represent Saint Patrick Catholic Church.
• Knowledge of, or the ability to learn how to use, graphic design template tools such as Canva (knowledge of expert tools a plus, but not required)
• Excellent capabilities with Microsoft Office applications (Office Suite)
• Knowledge of, or the ability to learn to use, mass communication, website, social media, and database management tools (Flocknote, Constant Contact, Planning Center, etc)
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative and creative environment
• Ability to lead/manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Possesses a self-starter work ethic
• Strong organizational skills
Education and Experience:
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Music, Liturgy, and/or Theology (other areas considered)
• Prefer 1-2 years of experience in a Church setting
Special Skills:
• Prefer proficiency in piano. Additional income opportunities.
