General Summary of the Position
The Associate Director of Sacramental Formation, under the direction of the Director of the Office of Evangelization, Catechesis and Family life is responsible for promoting the Church’s vision of sacramental formation as a crucial part of a parish’s faith formation process that is evangelizing, systematic, continuous, and life-long. The Associate director will work with parishes to provide training and resources to enable them to serve diverse families in making sacramental preparation a conduit for an encounter with Jesus Christ.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
Promotes the implementation of parish sacramental processes that are integrated into a comprehensive catechetical program.
Serves as a resource for parishes looking to select sacramental formation textbooks that are found by the USCCB to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Develops training that enables parish catechetical leaders to implement sacramental formation programs that integrate knowledge of the faith with living the faith.
Accompanies and encourages parish catechetical leaders and catechists in their formation efforts by communicating existing resources and programs.
Guides the revision of existing diocesan sacramental policies.
Works in collaboration with the Diocesan Tribunal to promote knowledge of Canon Law in sacramental formation.
Collaborates with the Office of Worship in ensuring that all catechetical formation is inspired by the catechumenate.
Cooperates with other associate directors in carrying out the mission of the Office of Evangelization, Catechesis and Family Life.
Collaborates with the Associate Director of Marriage Ministries in providing formation and enrichment opportunities to parish leaders involved in marriage preparation.
Collaborates with the Associate Director of Catechist and Catechetical Leader Formation in providing formation leading to certification for catechists and catechetical leaders involved in sacramental preparation.
Assists parishes in providing opportunities to reflect on the meaning of the sacraments received via an experience of mystagogia after the celebration.
Provides parishes with opportunities for enrichment for married couples.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Practicing Catholic in good standing with deep knowledge and appreciation of the sacraments of the church.
Excellent communication skills with the flexibility to adapt to various groups.
Excellent written and oral communication in both English and Spanish
Planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Open and willing to travel throughout the Diocese as needed.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledgeable in online teaching and communication platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in theology, religious education or pastoral ministry is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the context of sacramental formation at the parish or diocesan levels.

Practicing Catholic in good standing with deep knowledge and appreciation of the sacraments of the church.
