Kids Pastor role description

The Associate Kids Pastor is responsible for assisting and supporting the Kids Pastor in developing and directing programming for children aged kindergarten to 6th grade to contribute to the Church’s vision to wake up the world to Jesus. He/she assists in providing visionary leadership for the children’s ministry team to develop, plan, execute and promote children’s programming to effectively disciple children. He/ she assists in ensuring that the children have a fun and safe environment on Sunday mornings, and for all children’s events. He/she also recruits, trains, and equips volunteers to be effective leaders in the lives of the children. The Associate Kids Pastor is a spiritual leader to kids and families, and performs ministerial duties such as discipling believers, baptism counseling, baptism, and hospital visitation.

Responsibilities

Assist and Support the KIDS Pastor in leading the kids’ ministry to fulfill the vision of the church to wake up the world to Jesus resulting in the achievement of the yearly department goals

· Cast vision regularly of how kids’ ministry contributes to the overall vision and mission of the church.

· Spiritually lead, equip, and encourage the kids’ ministry team, volunteer teams, kids, and parents to grow as 5G disciples of Christ.

· Develop and lead the execution of yearly Ministry Action Plan.

· Plan and supervise the Kids’ Ministry budget not to exceed allotted amounts.

· Stay on the cutting edge of opportunities to reach out to families and bring them to Christ.

· Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers and when needed congregation to promote kids ministry activities.

Assist and Support the KIDS Pastor in Hiring, Onboarding, Equipping, Overseeing and Spiritually Leading Kids Staff Team resulting in the achievement of the yearly department goals

· Identify kids staff needs and hire staff as needed and approved by the Executive Pastor of Ministries.

· Onboard new kids ministry staff according to onboarding procedures.

· Mentor, equip, encourage and develop the kids’ ministry staff through 1:1 coaching.

· Cast vision regularly by sharing stories and celebrating wins.

· Provide biblical direction, spiritual guidance, care, support, and prayer for kids ministry staff team.

· Create a culture of unity as you envision, pray with, and train staff.

  • Evaluate and transition team members as necessary.

Assist and Support the KIDS Pastor in leading the kids’ ministry team to develop, plan, execute and promote children’s programming of excellent quality resulting in a growing attendance

  • Ensure that children are getting excellent and engaging Bible teaching.
  • Ensure that children have excellent and engaging worship services.
  • Ensure that kids have fun and have opportunities to build community.
  • Ensure that kids’ areas are creative, attractive and a safe space where children can grow disciples.
  • Oversee volunteers and give assistance and guidance in executing children’s programming.
  • Create opportunities for kids and families to give of their time, talents, and treasures.

Assist and Support the KIDS Pastor in Recruiting, Envisioning, Equipping, Directing and Spiritually Leading Volunteer Teams resulting in appropriate leader child ratios

· Develop, coordinate, supervise, and execute a strategic plan to identify and recruit volunteers.

· Cast vision regularly by sharing stories and celebrating wins.

· Provide biblical direction, spiritual guidance, care, support, prayer, and coaching for your teams.

· Create a culture of unity as you envision, pray with, and train volunteers.

  • Evaluate and transition team members as necessary.
  • Answer questions and serve as a resource to volunteers for concerns or escalated matters.

Assist and Support the KIDS Pastor in Leading Kids ministry team in planning, coordinating, and executing special events

(Examples: VBS, Kids Camp, Leader meetings, and other special events)

  • Lead the KIDS team to identify and achieve the specified goals of the events.
  • Develop a plan assign responsibilities for the events.
  • Recruit and train volunteers for specific events.
  • Shepherd kids and leaders and ensure that they have fun at each of the KIDS team special events.
  • Oversee staff and volunteers during events and provide leadership.

Assist and Support the KIDS Pastor Maintaining a Safe Environment for Children

· Ensure all security precautions within the Child Protection Plan Policies & Procedures are upheld.

  • Train volunteers to know and uphold safety and security standards.
  • Ensure all rooms have appropriate leader-to-child ratio and that there are no private 1:1 interaction.

· Roam and secure hallways against any unwanted guests and help wandering students.

· Review areas on property that are blind spots and monitor such areas during active programming.

Assist and Support the KIDS Pastor in Spiritually Leading Children and Parents

· Provide 7-week Discipleship class for kids to grow as disciples.

· Provide Baptism Counseling for children who are interested in getting baptized.

· Help equip and train parents by meeting with them, providing resources for them, praying for them.

· Encourage families in times of trouble and seek to be a source of comfort to them.

· Provide counseling when applicable or help refer families to a licensed counselors in cases that need professional help.

Serve as a Faithful Minister to all people of the Church

· Disciple members of the church so that they can become disciple makers.

· Visit members in the hospital.

· Attend all churchwide events and provide a warm and welcoming presence to all who attend.

· Assist other ministers in their duties in the church.

Ensure Accurate, Timely Response to Communication Requests (Phone or Email)

· Manage email, voicemail, and communication requests in a timely, thorough manner not to exceed 1 week

· Build trust by maintaining confidence of information

· Respond to all communication with professionalism, discretion, and a service orientation

RELATIONSHIPS

Executive Pastor of Ministries: As a part of the Ministries Team the Associate Kids Pastor reports to the Executive Pastor of Ministries. He/she is expected to be coachable, available, and responsive to him/her while striving for a healthy, Christ-like relationship characterized by love, truth, and unity.

Kids Pastor: The Associate Kids Pastor reports directly to the Kids Pastor. He/she receive Kids Ministry tasks from the Kids Pastor and is expected to be coachable, available, and responsive to him/her while striving for a healthy, Christ-like relationship characterized by love, truth, and unity.

The Kids’ Ministry Staff: The Associate Kids Pastor leads the other members of the Kids’ Ministry Staff and serves as a resource and encouragement to them, and partners with them effectively to achieve maximum kingdom impact.

The Heights staff: The Associate Kids Pastor collaborates with the other members of the Heights staff and serves as a resource and encouragement to them, and partners with them effectively to achieve maximum kingdom impact.

Kids Volunteer Team: The Associate Kids Pastor embodies and exhibits servant leadership in all interactions with volunteer team members, envisioning, equipping, and empowering them to make the greatest kingdom impact possible.

Children and Parents: The Associate Kids Pastor embodies and exhibits servant leadership in all interactions with children and parents, seeking to serve, support, and reflect the love of Christ to and for them.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22,356.15 - $75,160.90 per year
