Full Job Description
First Baptist Dallas, a Spiritual Oasis in downtown Dallas is looking for a hands-on, experienced Building Maintenance Supervisor. This person is responsible for physically maintaining the churches building assets, construction of capital improvement projects and the supervision of hourly personnel assigned for these purposes. This person will be expected to be physically involved in the day to day operations providing actual hands-on assistance with getting projects completed. The successful candidate should possess Journeyman or Master Carpenter skills.
Essential Duties:
Assist the Minister of Downtown Facilities in planning, coordinating, and directly managing the work functions related to the facilities maintenance & construction division
Develop, Implement and Supervise the duties and responsibilities of the facilities maintenance & construction division and staff
Train Building Techs on work tasks and duties to be conducted routinely throughout church facility
Assign work orders, tasks and duties to Building Techs as received
Oversee maintenance and care of church exterior and building construction projects
Ensure all electrical doors and locks are maintained and parts are updated
Oversee painting of church interior walls and assign building techs to offices or areas
Order parts and materials for facilities 2 to 3 times weekly
Input hours and materials for purchase orders to keep up with costing projects
Oversee flooring maintenance as required
Estimate cost of building projects
Supervise subcontractors brought in to perform work on facility
Function in an interactive and cross-functional relationship with all other ministries and support areas of the church
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Minister of Facilities Management.
Must be fully committed to the Mission and Core Values of First Baptist Dallas
Should have a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in general contracting/construction management
Should have at least a High School diploma or accreditation
Must have supervisory experience
Must be a Journeyman or Master Carpenter. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Must possess written and verbal communications skills
Physical Requirements:
Constantly lifting up to 10 lbs; frequently lifting up to 70 lbs.
Frequent walking, 3-5 miles per day
Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping and using trade tools.
Requires repetitive use of feet and hands.
Working in an indoor/outdoor environment with temperature ranges from below freezing to over 100 degrees at times.
Regular exposure to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
Working safely on ladders of varying heights, scaffolding and man-lifts.
Walking on uneven or slippery surfaces
