Basic Responsibilities

a. Work alongside designated Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) company to complete detailed engineering, design, procurement, and construction of the MSRR.
b. Work with MSRR sub-system leads from the NEXTRA consortium to integrate subsystems into a coherent conceptual design.
c. Oversee implementation of MSRR Conceptual Design.
d. Support licensing efforts required to make MSRR operational.
e. Oversee the overall manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning of the MSRR.
f. Support the overall system safety and risk analysis of the MSRR.
g. Oversee design reviews of the MSRR in conjunction with designated EPC.
h. Work with the NEXTRA consortium and designated EPC to implement standards and procedures.
i. Work with the NEXTRA consortium and designated EPC to produce procedure documents such as work instructions, operating procedures, maintenance, and repair manuals.
j. Maintain documentation (drawings, procedures, reports) per established guidelines.
k. Show good verbal/written communication skills.
l. Work with others in collaborative team settings.
m. Other duties as assigned

Professional Development Requirements

a. Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Nuclear, Mechanical, or related field.
b. Minimum 10 years experience (industry, federal government, or university).
c. Experience leading the engineering, design, and construction of large capital projects, nuclear, chemical, or other power facilities preferred.
d. Experience with nuclear reactor design, construction, commissioning, and operation preferred.
e. Experience developing technical specifications and procedures.
f. Experience generating and reviewing detailed engineering and design drawing packages.
g. Proficient with general computer skills including Windows, e-mail, and Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
h. Desire to work in a developing field of technology in a university environment.
i. Ability to adapt to frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
j. Requires minimum supervision and shows initiative to operate within design time and constraints.
k. Shows initiative and responsible decision-making skills.

Desired Qualifications

a. Reactor operator experience is not required but would be beneficial.
b. Experience with ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code, ASME BPCV.III.5 – High Temperature Reactors preferred.
c. Experience with CAD software, Autodesk Inventor preferred.
d. Experience with engineering data management software, Autodesk Vault preferred.
e. Experience with ANSYS or other analysis software preferred.
