Under the direction of the Director of Children and Youth Faith Formation, the Coordinator for Confirmation is responsible for coordinating the confirmation program, including retreats. The coordinator will lead the interview process with the candidates, work with and train catechists, who will walk with the families, and coordinate the confirmation retreat. The coordinator for Confirmation will support the parishes moral, spiritual, and pastoral mission, fosters communication, and works collaboratively with all parish and diocesan employees. This is a salaried position and requires a minimum of 40 hours a week, with the work week starting on Sunday and ending on a Saturday.

  • Collaborates with the Director of Children and Youth and other staff in implementing the mission of the parish by participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the parish’s programs, goals and objectives, with specific emphasis on Confirmation.
  • To help recruit, prepare, and assist catechists in as they walk with families through the process of family-based catechesis.
  • To conduct and/or train the catechist how to conduct the preliminary and follow up interviews with the families of teens in need of confirmation – 7th grade – high school.
  • To periodically follow-up and grow in relationship with the catechists.
  • To work with the director in planning and implementing a confirmation retreat.
  • To meet with families who have children with special learning needs.
  • To organize and conduct registration, parent meetings, sacramental information meetings, and confirmation practices in conjunction with the Faith Formation staff, and all other pertinent authorities.
  • To coordinate and inform parents of the confirmation calendar events as needed.
  • To assist with the preparation and implementation of the confirmation Mass
  • To attend any meetings of Pastoral Staff when scheduled: including, department and/or weekly staff meetings.
  • Work with department staff in completing the paperwork required for Confirmation, including sacramental registrations sheets, etc.
  • To work closely with the department staff to process payments into the data system.
  • The above mentioned may include additional duties and responsibilities as determined by the Director of Children Faith Formation and Youth Sacramental Preparation

Job Requirements

Bilingual [English/Spanish] Oral and Written proficiency

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Successful completion of the Parish Safe Environment process
  • Communication, Collaboration, and Relationship Skills
  • Computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Database Skill (PDS)
  • Volunteer Recruitment, Training, Supervision, and Coordination Skills
  • Previous parish experience preferred, especially in the area of Confirmation



Special Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands; and talk or listen. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability of adjust focus. The noise level is usually quiet to moderately loud.
