Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plan, manage, monitor, and upgrade where necessary the church website
  • Build web page and app layouts consistent with churchwide or ministry brand standards
  • Manage a cross-departmental process aimed at keeping the website and app up to date
  • Work alongside the Director of Creative, Communications, & Production to best utilize the website's visual imagery and ensure it's in line with branding for HPUMC and meets the requirements of the ministries
  • Oversee all major ministry-related emails to ensure quality standards are met
  • Oversee the content and strategy for HPUMC’s app
  • Work with the Copywriter to proofread content and make changes where necessary
  • Edit content, debug code, and re-design web pages where necessary
  • Juggle various projects and handle tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while ensuring timely, accurate completion of assigned projects
  • Conduct competitive analysis to make informed content decisions and identify best practices throughout digital properties
  • Help oversee the data analytics of all of our digital platforms
  • Report on content and campaign performance for digital properties
  • Maintain relationships with vendors associated with the website and app, ensuring timely delivery of projects
  • Ensure content is accurate, functional, relevant, and engaging for the target audience throughout digital properties
  • Regularly be testing and improving the User Experience of all our digital platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Web Design/Development, or a related area
  • At least two years of experience managing content for high-traffic websites
  • Basic/intermediate knowledge of information architecture
  • Proficient in HTML and advanced knowledge of popular content management systems
  • Proficient understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
  • Accustomed to working in an environment requiring multi-tasking and changing project priorities
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to think strategically and independently
  • Shows initiative and accountability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary
  • Experience with app design and user experience is a plus

Preferred Software Experience:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • G Suite (Google, Gmail, Calendar, etc…)
  • Craft CMS
  • Brushfire & Resi
  • HTML and CSS Knowledge
  • Intermediate Adobe Photoshop skills is a bonus

Other Qualifications: Must be a committed Christian, with a church home, who is comfortable working in a United Methodist Church and willing to spend occasional Sundays onsite in order to understand HPUMC firsthand.
