Supervisory Responsibilities

This role is an individual contributor and does not have supervisory responsibilities. This role will lead volunteers assigned to the Childrens Ministry.

 

Essential Functions

  • Implementation of the Childrens ministry programs that align the ministry with the vision and mission of the church.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert about childrens development issues and trends, and as an advocate for children.
  • Educate the congregation regarding the needs of children and provides solutions to meet those needs in the local church and community.
  • Mentor and develop the Childrens Ministry volunteers with the goal of developing their leadership skills.
  • Access resources to develop Childrens Ministry programming, volunteers and lay leaders and seeks continuing education events and training opportunities.
  • In conjunction with Christian Education, oversees the recruiting and training of teachers, facilitators and volunteers who work with students in all aspects of the Childrens Ministry and ensure adequate skill levels, volunteer support, and adult to children ratios.
  • Serve as liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to children and Childrens Ministries.
  • Partner with Christian Education to coordinate curriculum for children with the adult ministries where appropriate.
  • Ability to fully embrace the vision, values, and statement of faith of Concord Church.
  • Develop an annual budget and manages the disbursement of budgeted funds for Childrens Ministries within the guidelines of the approved budget and in adherence with the purchasing policies of the church.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Demonstrates high integrity working in a faith-based organization and adheres to the guidelines, bylaws, and policies set forth by Concord Church.
  • Attend all required training as required by Concord Church.
  • Complete special projects and other duties assigned by the Childrens Pastor.

Skills Needed

  • Proven expertise in administration, formal training in Childrens Ministry required.

  • Possess the ability to use appropriate judgement, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to minister successfully across cultural lines.
  • Proven leadership skills utilizing cooperative, collaborative team leadership style.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationships in a multi-cultural church setting with supervisors, co-workers, and volunteers.
  • Possess the ability to understand and keep current on issues related to safety and security resulting in the implementation of associated activities and safeguards.
  • Proven ability to achieve results.
  • Preparation for serving as an ambassador of Christ to others.

 

Education and Experience

  • This position requires a minimum of a bachelors degree in Ministry, Christian Education, or related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years proven expertise in administration and formal training in Childrens Ministry required.
  • Non-profit or ministry experience with a faith-based organization with at least 500 members/attendees, preferred.
  • Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and web savvy.

 

Physical Requirements

  • An employee in this position primarily works in a typical office environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment to draft documents, communication with church staff.
  • An employee in this position is required to walk, hear, speak, and stand to interact with children, parents, staff, members, and volunteers.
  • Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • The ability to manage stress, build professional, collaborative relationships, and reason through complex church business situations is required.
  • A flexible schedule is required since this position requires evening and weekend work. This position may be expected to work overtime.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel is required for this position.

  • This position is required to be a member of Concord Church. Employees in this position are expected to sincerely hold the same religious beliefs as expressed by Concord Church.
