Purpose/Impact

The Director of the LHPC Child Development Center (CDC) actively supports the joint Christian mission of, and promotes a relationship between, the CDC and the church’s missions and programs. This position is responsible for all aspects of the operations of the CDC. The Director establishes high standards for classroom safety, child health, and staff performance.

Accountability and Hours

The Director of the CDC is employed by the Session and will report to the Pastor, Head of Staff. This is a full-time, year-round professional position with regular work hours on-site daily Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Program Oversight

· Maintain responsibility for the development and implementation of curriculum and enrichment programs.

· Supervise day-to-day operations and staff.

· Manage program budget, staff, facilities, compliance activities, operations planning, process improvement, interdepartmental relations as well as intradepartmental relations.

· Manage program finances under the direction of the CDC, Stewardship/Finance, and Personnel committees as well as the Session of LHPC.

· Collaborate with the CDC committee and parent volunteer organization.

· Collaborate with developing special programming including, but not limited to, chapel, music, and Vacation Bible School.

· Communicate regularly with staff, church members, and parents through monthly newsletter items, available media applications, and quarterly presence during Sunday morning services.

· Research and develop grant proposals for the CDC.

Staff Selection and Supervision
· Recruit, select, evaluate, orient, and train all teachers and staff.

· Provide for ongoing training of all staff, including monthly staff meetings.

· Meet individually with all CDC staff on a regular basis to discuss expectations and performance in accordance with the Personnel Policy.

Record Keeping

· Maintain current employment files on all staff, including all state-required documentation.

· Maintain all required inspections and documentation as required by Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services (TDPRS).

· Maintain all TDPRS required current information on enrolled children and their parents.

· Maintain responsibility for submission of CDC staff timesheets to the church treasurer.

Skills/Experience/Education

· Possesses Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood education or related field

· Holds and maintains current license to head full-time childcare facility under TDPRS

· Maintains complete familiarity with all relevant TDPRS guidelines for operations, teacher requirements, and training

· Works enthusiastically and effectively with staff, parents, and children

· Possesses strong organizational skills

· Has the ability to inspire and work with staff and volunteers of diverse backgrounds and viewpoints

· Completes ongoing continuing education as required by TDPRS

· Is self-motivated and able to complete duties in a timely fashion

Planning and Marketing

· Coordinate CDC activities and special programs with the life of the church.

· Plan special events and fund-raising activities.

· Advertise and market the CDC, as needed.

Licensing

· Ensure CDC compliance with all TDPRS guidelines for operations.

· Manage and head Child Protective Policy for LHPC; maintain all required records and updates. Adhere to all policies of Child Protection as required by TDPRS and church policy.

This is a full-time position with partially paid insurance benefits. Paid vacation and
personal leave accumulates as per church staff schedule.
