Purpose of This Position

The vision of Highland Park Presbyterian Church is to lead all generations to become transformed followers of Jesus for the flourishing of our city and beyond.

The Young Adult Ministry seeks to support this vision by helping foster a community of post-college young adults who they can find and follow Jesus and help one another on their journey as disciples of Jesus.
Desired Results/Impact of This Position

  • New Young Adults are involved in leadership and discipleship
  • Thoughtful places are being created where Young Adults can be equipped and practice their faith together (i.e., opportunities for worship, discipleship, spiritual practices, evangelism, etc.)
  • Young Adult Community Groups are growing in health; more groups are being launched, and leaders are being trained up
  • Young Adults are increasingly represented in various places of service within our church
  • Young Adults ministry budget is balanced

Key Responsibilities

  • Equip and encourage young adult leaders to take ownership of ministry initiatives
  • Model winsome engagement with non-Christians, bearing witness to Jesus in those relationships
  • Create small and large group communities that are engaging for single and married young adults
  • Coordinate efforts for young adults to serve the church, the city, and the world
  • Host community gatherings that are engaging and invitational for the un-churched
  • Shepherd young adults in their relationship with Jesus

Education, Experience, Skill, Ability Requirements

  • Engaging teachers with experience communicating from platforms of multiple sizes
  • Flexible and organized, able to manage multiple areas at once (leadership training, teaching, etc.)
  • Experience leading teams and multiplying new leaders and volunteers
  • Proven experience with being a champion of and living out the vision of an organization, as well as experience in growing ministries
  • Participates in a team environment with multiple staff; able to supervise and receive supervision
  • Master’s degree from a seminary preferred, Bachelor’s in the relevant field considered

  • Lifting under 30 lb
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
