Reports To: Associate Pastor - Equipping
Talents/Abilities: Dependable, friendly, enthusiastic, creative, organized, able to prepare lesson plans, and facilitation skills, relates well with volunteers, connects well with Teens and Young Adults.
Time Commitment: 20 - 29 hours per week, including up to 6 hours on Sundays.

Youth and Teen Ministry directors and youth leaders must participate in all youth group activities. Additionally, leaders should take time during the year to connect with regular attending stewards and their families to give an overview of content and direction.

Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the programming of the Amity Bible Church Youth Ministry

Description:
A Youth Director is passionate about relating to teens and gives evidence of a sincere commitment to God. Additionally, this role is to build loving and caring relationships with teens/young adults and facilitate the effectiveness of group meetings.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Is a committed steward of Amity and committed to its core values and ministry goals
  • Has a good relationship with family and others
  • Has a servant’s heart and shows spiritual maturity
  • He is a good communicator and listener and has a heart for youth
  • Has a positive attitude and knows how to have fun, laugh, and enjoy life
  • Is flexible and open to what can sometimes be the messiness of youth ministry
  • Has a desire to see spiritual growth and transformation in the youth of Amity
  • Cultivates a fun, safe, and welcoming environment where kid can grow in relationships with others and with Jesus Christ
  • Is committed to working as a team member with other youth ministry leaders
  • Commits to participate in training events
  • Leads both junior and senior high youth groups every week
  • Prepares for weekly meetings that include some or all the following: devotions, age-appropriate worship, interactive discussions on various topics, social and outreach activities
  • Assists Youth Ministry Assistant Coordinator with any needs required for Youth Group Meetings (food, copies, student lessons/worksheets, chairs, additional room set-up, etc.)
  • Interacts with leaders to identify opportunities for youth participation in the wider church
  • Identify opportunities for youth to serve and connect with the surrounding community in ways that are an extension of our Christian faith.
  • Greet students and make visitors feel welcome.
  • Fill in for teachers if no substitute is available
  • Leads/participates in relevant Small Groups
  • Prays for youth at ABC and especially for those who are struggling
  • Calls teachers when absent from Sunday school or meetings
  • Schedules regular communication meetings with Associate Pastor of Equipping
  • Identifies and nurtures facilitators/mentors to serve within the Children’s and Youth Ministries
  • Plan 2 Mentor socials during the year.
  • Looks for ways to develop meaningful relationships with youth, connecting with them in different settings i.e.: Sunday worship, sports activities, school events, etc.
  • Encourages youth participation in service/Mission projects
  • Provide ongoing training/growth opportunities for Youth Mentors
  • Work with Youth Parents to create opportunities for participation in the Youth Ministry
  • Grow/create scholarship opportunities for High School Seniors

  • Students are excited and show up and allow you to reach, teach, and connect with them via email, phone, or in-person (Zoom meetings)
  • Leaders are committed to the students and continue to learn and grow in their relationship with God.
  • You take advantage of equipping tools to ensure your Spiritual growth and that of the Amity BC Stewards.

Training:
To develop people in their ministry roles, the Youth Leaders must be provided training so they can lead effectively and feel the supported by this dynamic team. At the beginning of a semester, training and orientation meetings can help those new to the youth leadership role and refresh the memories of those who have been a part of the team for a more extended period. Additional meetings and workshops throughout the year will provide a context for encouragement and additional training.

Lastly, Amity BC is not just a place of worship and where ministry programs happen, but also a place of safety and trust. Parents will want to know that not only are their youth being cared for spiritually but also that they are in a safe environment. Those serving in the Youth Ministry program will be required to provide a current background check and may be subject to approval by the Pastoral and Elder leadership of Amity BC.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $37,000.00 per year
