The Early Childhood Coordinator is a part of the MungerKids team. This position will collaborate with other members of the Munger staff, paid caregivers, and volunteers, though their primary responsibility is assuring the success of Munger’s early childhood ministry and childcare.
Primary responsibilities are ministering to children ages birth through 5 years old and their families and smooth operation of nursery, preschool Sunday school and childcare. The goal of this job is to assure the nursery and preschool is always available and welcoming.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Campus: Munger
Working Hours: Part time position that will work an anticipated 20 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: Sundays 8:30am-12:30pm; Monday - Thursday 8:30am-12:30pm
Occasional evenings for church events will be required. During certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter.
Ministry*

  • Building on and expanding current Early Childhood ministry
  • Reaching out to first time families (keeping track of and celebrating new births)
  • Coordinate new baby gifts
  • Responsible for preparing age appropriate lessons and activities for Sunday mornings
  • Lead in developing an effective environment that facilitates spiritual transformation

Organization and staffing

  • Communicate needs and expectations with paid caregivers and volunteers
  • Communicate with Munger staff and volunteers regarding childcare needs (regular as well as special events)
  • Create monthly schedules for caregivers
  • Assure adequate nursery hospitality support is scheduled and present
  • Approve paid caregivers’ hours
  • Respond to any changes in scheduling and staffing
  • Assure Munger nursery policies are in line with industry best practices
  • Train caregivers and volunteers in Munger childcare policies
  • Lead weekly Sunday morning caregiver meetings
  • Assure smooth operation of nurseries
  • Quickly and effectively handle any disputes between caregivers and/or caregivers and parents
  • Model hospitality and care to parents and children
  • Develop and implement an appreciation program for caregivers

Education and Desired Skills:

  • High School diploma required, college degree preferred.
  • Flexibility - available to occasionally coordinate with paid caregivers during odd time of the week required.

Preferred Software Experience:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • G Suite (Google, Gmail, Calendar, etc…)

The Early Childhood Coordinator is expected to maintain high Christian values and professional integrity in order to provide an example for the people of our community. His/her job is also to minister to Munger’s community through the various aspects of his/her role.
