Purpose of This Position
The vision of Highland Park Presbyterian Church is to lead all generations to become transformed followers of Jesus for the flourishing of our city and beyond.
The Creative Team seeks to advance and support that vision by inspiring our congregation and guests to take their next steps in their faith at HP Pres and informing them how to do so.
The Filmmaker supports the Creative Team and the vision for Highland Park Presbyterian Church by creating videos that cohesively capture the imagination of HP Pres, which inspires and informs people to take their next steps in their faith.
Desired Results/Impact of This Position
- The impact that HP Pres has on individuals can be witnessed through the stories of transformation that are told in our videos.
- HP Pres’s impact across Dallas and the world is seen on film. This will require travel around DFW (occasionally) and the world (once annually) when documenting initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Writing, filming, and editing videos that share the vision and impact of HP Pres tell the story of how Jesus is at work in our church while creatively and strategically inviting viewers to be a part of the story.
- Ensuring that the vision of the Creative Director and Art Director is executed across video mediums.
- Work with staff across HP Presto to find and capture compelling stories that strategically support our ministries.
- Work with the Creative Team members to manage gear and set up for shoots.
- Videos are regularly created in conjunction with our Content Director for social media.
- the creation of videos occasionally supports Sunday Morning worship.
- Weekly, ensuring that videos of our sermons and worship services are edited and prepared for our website and social media.
- Writing scripts and collaborating with the Creative Team and other staff members on hand.
- Catalog and archive video footage.
- In an emergency, can help the production team man a camera for a live event.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Occasionally coordinating work with freelancers.
Education, Experience, Skill, Ability Requirements
- A degree in Videography or a related field and 2-5 years of experience are preferred. A strong portfolio is essential.
- Desire and ability to work creatively in a team setting.
- A passion for reaching people for Christ and helping mobilize people in their faith through excellent videos.
- Demonstrates technical ability when it comes to filming and editing.
- Demonstrates strong storytelling abilities through scriptwriting and editing.
- Highly organized, managing production timelines, scheduling shoots, and tracking important information.
- Understands the StoryBrand model or is willing to learn it quickly. Resources provided.
