Lead Copy Editor & Brand Storyteller

The Lead Copy Editor & Brand Storyteller is a position designed to focus primarily on written content and storytelling needs that help drive the mission, vision, and culture of Christ Fellowship as one church, two languages. This position will work within the Communications Department and will be involved in our Spanish Ministry team.
 

Summary

This full-time bilingual position is for someone who is passionate to make a difference cross-culturally. The employee is responsible for crafting Christ Fellowship’s storytelling strategy, both visually and in written form for our English and Spanish ministries. The employee oversees all digital content including translation and contextualization for our website and mobile app content, social media content creation & strategy, email content creation & strategy, special projects, and other communication responsibilities as assigned in the English and Spanish ministries. Additionally, the employee will assist in major storytelling and film projects. As such, the employee is expected to manage their workload and time with his/her supervisor. A typical work week for this position is 40-50 hours, with the expectation that most of the work will be completed in the office.
 

Working Relationships

This position reports to the Communications Director and works closely with the Spanish Ministry Pastor. This position establishes, manages, and supports Communications Department volunteers/teams in overseeing and addressing responsibilities in English and Spanish.

  • Strategic thinker with excellent editorial, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write creative, inspiring, and culturally relevant content that resonates with target audiences.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, project and time management skills.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling skills and proofreading skills.
  • Great attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven atmosphere.
  • A persuasive and confident approach to creativity and storytelling.
  • A strong understanding of storytelling practices and strategies with the ability to coordinate with a video editor in crafting inspirational stories.
  • An out-going, friendly, can-do attitude that thrives in a collaborative team environment.
  • Confidence in building a rapport with others and nurturing good working relationships cross-culturally.
  • Basic familiarity with Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro, preferred, but not required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees the content creation process from writing through editing and publishing on our platforms, such as websites, emails, mobile apps, and social media accounts.
  • Create unique cultural content for each of our social media avenues and maintain a robust strategy for English and Spanish Christ Fellowship social media accounts.
  • Create content for English and Spanish websites and mobile apps.
  • Coordinate with Production team on written content needs for Sunday mornings for English and Spanish services.
  • Create and oversee email strategies for Christ Fellowship emails in English and Spanish.
  • Collaborate with our Communication team and further the vision, mission, and values of Christ Fellowship through storytelling and video production.
  • Assist our videographer in editing compelling life-change story videos and sermon bumpers.
  • Attend communications team meetings, monthly Spanish Ministry Team meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Work with ministries to develop effective strategies for online digital strategy to promote engagement of church attenders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
     

Experience Desired

  • Must have at least three-five years of related experience in the communications field.
  • Must have proven ministerial experience.
  • Must have bilingual experience in cross-cultural ministry.
     

Education Desired

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English, Creative Writing, or related field. Considerations will be given to candidates who have over three years of industry experience in a similar role if they do not have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Preferred Seminary or Master of Arts Degree in Communications, Biblical Studies, or Media Arts, but not required.
     

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This person must be able to exchange accurate information when working with others, think critically and act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make sound decisions. He/she must be able to operate a computer, read and comprehend information while researching, or other activities throughout the day, and remain stationary at least 50% of the time. He/she must be able to move about the facility to meet with people. He/she must also be able to lift up to 30 pounds and maneuver it (i.e. twist, push, pull, etc.) and be able to move heavy loads by hand and other similar actions periodically.
