Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee the lighting for the Cornerstone service, and assist in designing, programming, and implementing lighting and other worship technology for worship services and special events.
  • Set design and construction for Cornerstone.
  • System programming, implementation, maintenance, and system design as needed for production and events across all HPUMC Campuses, with a focus on contemporary venues.
  • Install, integrate, maintain, and operate audio-visual technical equipment across all venues as needed with lighting as the main focus.
  • Provide technical support and training for the Tolleson Family Activity Center, as well as other venues as needed. Including WOW and Crave for the Youth Staff on Wednesday nights.
  • Set up and operate lighting equipment for weekly worship services and for classes and special events as assigned by the Executive Producer, Contemporary Worship, and Associate Director, Creative Content and Production.
  • Assist filmmakers during shoots for lighting support.
  • Participate in the research, procurement, installation, maintenance, and inventory of all equipment needed by the department, including but not limited to microphones, cabling, consoles, cameras, computers, switching gear, lighting controls, lighting instruments, and various media.
  • Assist in assessing and coordinating media needs with worship, music, and other personnel to best meet their needs.
  • Prepare worship venues for services and events, setting up equipment and tearing down and storing afterward.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Producer, Contemporary Worship and Associate Director, Creative Content and Production.

Education and Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in an area of production with a focus on lighting and lighting technology; or equivalent experience.
  • General knowledge of audio-visual technology, including operation, installation, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment.
  • General understanding of carpentry and construction for stage settings and scenery. Set design and construction experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, and the ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary

Preferred Software Experience:

  • ProPresenter 7
  • Lighting operating system and console software. Grand MA2 preferred.
  • Planning Center
  • Microsoft office suite
  • Google Suite
  • Ability to learn and use software to support video distribution, signage, and web-based storage and sharing of files.
  • Video and photo editing software knowledge is a plus.
  • DVD/Blu-Ray/CD authoring software is a plus.
