St. Mark is a diverse multicultural parish, located in Plano, TX. The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assist and coordinate the preparation and execution of the ministries of Marriages and Convalidations and to assist in the areas of baptism, funerals, and annulments as needed by the department (will include cross-training within the department for those areas)
  • Handle phone calls and assist those seeking ministries of marriage /convalidation in both English and Spanish.
  • Set appointments for couples seeking matrimony from first contact to the celebration of the wedding/convalidation.
  • Gather and verify documents to ensure couple complete the necessary steps prior to the reception of marriage/convalidation, including forms/documents, marriage prep., NFP, and FOCCUS/REFOCCUS surveys.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of new programs through the Parish Life Office, such as various ongoing events, date nights, etc. for Newly Engaged, Young Married, Marriage Enrichment, Empty-Nesters, etc.
  • The duties and responsibilities of this position includes weekend work and may require evening appointments with couples with flexibility of hours as needed.
  • Responsible for other duties, as assigned or deemed necessary by the Director or Pastor within the Parish Life Office.

Job Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic living in accordance with the Churches teachings
  • Proficient communication in English and Spanish
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of related work/Church experience preferred
  • Experience working with families and couples preferred
  • People skills for greeting and assisting others with sensitivity as the role will require a person to be able to handle possible sensitive issues with a couple dealing with ongoing grief (especially with annulments) and/or stressful moments such as marriage preparation.
  • Dependability, flexibility, team player mentality, willing to be contacted should needs arise outside of scheduled working hours.
  • Communication skills – (returning calls and email responses in a timely manner)
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of sacramental preparation and programming.
  • Willingness to work and or learn programs that include Exponent HR, Mass Intentions Online, PDS, etc.
  • Ability to handle workload and deadlines with flexibility and adaptability to the specific needs of the office and the needs of parishioners.
  • Present oneself with a disposition of service, respectfully aiding the office of Parish Life by serving as a Coordinator who is an active participant in their faith.
