General Summary of the Position

The Program and Communications Coordinator, in collaboration with the staff of Office of Vocations, oversees the planning, execution, and promotion of various program and events of the Office of Vocations. Also, the Program and Communications Coordinator will act as a liaison with the various parishes and campus ministries in the diocese to coordinate the promotion and implementation of vocation programs. The position reports to the Director of Vocations and will regularly work together with the other staff in the Office of Vocations.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

  • Strive for ongoing personal growth as a disciple and ongoing professional development
  • Assist the Director of Vocations with the planning, execution, and promotion of all programs and events organized by the Office of Vocations for discerners, including but not limited to:

o St. Andrew Dinners
o Discernment cookouts
o Come and See events
o College campus ministry events
o Marian dinners for women, and discernment retreats for men and women.

  • Facilitate the creation, distribution and promotion of vocation materials to parishes, schools, and other diocesan institutions.
  • Manage the vocations website and oversee the creation and distribution of digital promotional materials for vocations, in collaboration with the Diocesan Communications Office.
  • Identify and communicate with liaisons for the promotion of vocations in parishes and campus ministries.
  • Communicate regularly with the Diocesan Office of Youth, Young Adults, and Campus Ministries, as well as with parish youth ministers.
  • Assist the Director of Seminarians with events for Dallas Seminarians, including but not limited to:

o Transitional Diaconate Ordination
o Presbyteral Ordination
o Candidacy
o Seminarian Convocation
o Seminarian Christmas dinner
o Summer seminarian cookout

  • On occasion, assist the Clergy Office and the Vicar for Clergy in organizing and communicating clergy events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Vocations and the Director of Seminarians

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Creativity and strategic thinking for planning programs for the promotion of vocations
  • Attention to detail and the tenacity to see a project to completion
  • Proficiency with tools for graphic design, website management, and digital marketing
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and execute a vision


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Experience with event planning and logistics
  • Knowledge of marketing and graphic design is welcome
  • Spanish (speaking and listening) is welcome


Special Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Catholic faith, parishes and priests of the Diocese
  • Working knowledge of Catholic Church structures
  • Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality
  • Normally work Monday through Friday, however able to work flexible hours, including occasionally working nights and weekends as the demands of ministry require


Physical Requirements Specific to the Job:

  • Must be able to move heavy equipment and materials
