Overview
The Staff Accountant maintains the financial records of Milestone Church, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The responsibilities of the Staff Accountant also includes, but is not limited to, financial reporting as well as other special projects as assigned.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

Provide accurate accounting of all financial transactions.

Ensure proper internal controls and standard operating procedures are followed.

Maintain the general ledger.

Prepare and review journal entries.

Oversee the month end close process.
-
Prepare monthly reconciliations within an established time frame.

Prepare monthly financial reporting and analysis as assigned.

Ensure compliance with IRS regulations.

Assist in annual external audit.

Other tasks may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

Read, write, and speak English proficiently.

Possess solid biblical convictions aligned with Milestone leadership.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Willingness to grow and adapt to changes in a growing local church.

Proficient knowledge of technology including general ledger systems (Abila MIP Fund Accounting), Microsoft Office, and Google Mail.

Extensive verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Ability to maintain good working relationships with vendors, volunteers, and employees.
Education and Experience
-
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

Previous work experience
-
CPA designation preferred
Physical Demands
The physical demands may include: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting up to 40 pounds as needed to fulfill job duties and requirements.
