North Texas Capernaum Young Life is looking to add a full-time Capernaum staff person to our Dallas Metro team. With an area director, staff associate I, teacher staff and administrator already in place, we are looking for someone to join us in doing multiethnic ministry in the urban context of North Dallas County. This is a hard-to-fund area with kids from many different countries and a significant homeless population. The area sits in the Northeast Texas Region which includes 35 areas and 75 full-time staff members, most located within one hour of each other.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and area level.
Lead an existing Capernaum ministry that includes students from different schools, including a team of adult leaders and weekly club and Campaigners meetings.
Weekly contact work at multiple schools for kids with disabilities.
Help the rest of the metro team in leader recruitment/training, local board (committee) recruitment, fundraising events, leader care and church outreach.
Personal fundraising.
Recruit and lead a team of volunteer leaders and buddies that reflect the community.
Communicate with parents and organize ministry in a way that serves and cares for families with kids with disabilities.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate ...
Must have some experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Can start, lead and oversee multiple ministry teams.
Has experience recruiting/leading volunteers.
Has experience working directly with teenagers.
Is adaptable and flexible in order to meet the vast and ever-changing needs of this student population.
Spanish speaker/bilingual preferred.
Collaborates well with others as part of the staff team.
