The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Youth Program Coordinator in Dallas, Texas.

Job Summary:

Supports the planning and coordination of programming across Corps, including the day-to-day supervision of Program Activities; ensures work is in compliance with established policies; researches and develops program curricula, including programs that attract local community members; requisitions supplies to include, but not limited to, sports equipment; works with assigned staff to secure volunteers and organizations to assist in various aspects of the program; co-facilitates two major fundraising events per year.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles and practice of child care, youth program and sports development and administration for the Texas State Licensing. Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices with youth coupled with supervisory, public speaking and communication skills. Ability to understand the problems that face community youth and the ability to provide leadership in the community and to promote youth programs. Ability to develop, implement and enforce program policies and procedures. Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.


Education and Experience:

Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a focus or additional coursework in Child Development, Physical Education or a related field, and Two years’ experience in the delivery of youth sports programs, or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Licenses and Certifications:

Valid State Driver’s License (Preferred)

CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to perform mathematical computations. Ability to drive a Salvation Army and transport passengers safely. Ability to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism. Duties are usually performed by a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and/or driving a vehicle. Duties may also require ability to lead and participate in recreational and/or sports programs. Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light or moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like and driving a vehicle in moderate to heavy traffic.
