About this Event

About this event

There is a crisis in youth mental health. We read about it often. You are invited to learn more and take action. Rev. Dr. Sarah Lund, author of Blessed Youth and the Survival Guide, while on medical leave, will be featured in a pre-recorded message to offer the context for our program. We will engage with a panel in person, including youth and adults, and 5 Breakout Sessions. The areas are schools, families, faith communities, suicide prevention, and LGBTQ concerns.

Panel: The panel will comprise Ben Knighten, a school psychologist, a youth from OutBoulder, a child from Colie's closet, Jenna Clinchard of rising against suicide, and Anna Kim of NAMI, and moderated by Jackie Hibbard, the Associate Pastor at CUCC Boulder.

Breakout Sessions:

Chris Castaneda, Out Boulder County - Explore the intersections of LGBTQ+ identities and mental health with an interactive activity called the Identity Star Activity to build empathy and awareness of LGBTQ+ experiences.

Colie's Closet - Students present warning signs, risk factors, and statistics of depression and suicide.

Anna Kim (NAMI Boulder County Board Member) - NAMI Ending the Silence is designed to allow family members to learn about youth mental health conditions through an informative presentation and discussion. The presentation outlines symptoms of mental health conditions and offers attendees ideas about how to help themselves, friends, or family members who may need support.
