Primary Tasks:
Safeguard Environment
- Ensures a safe and secure environment in the Cathedral, Rectory, and Business Office during regular business hours
- Ensure the safety and security of all guests
- Monitor the Physical Environment within the Cathedral for 45 minutes of each hour
- Monitor the grounds for 15 minutes every other hour unless situations dictate deviation
- Always maintain a pleasant, respectful, friendly, and welcoming attitude
- Maintain a sacred atmosphere for prayer and reflection
- Assist guests with inquiries, incidents, and accidents
- Respond promptly to any request for assistance from the Business Office
- Control access to restricted areas
- Provide a weekly incident report to the Front Office
- Ensure the opening and closing of the facility as needed
Sacristan
- Preparing the needed items for the celebration of the Mass. This includes readying the wine, water, and bread and putting them in the mace for the start of Mass.
- Ensure a large host is available for the Presider
- Ensure key is inthe tabernacle
- Set out appropriate books with ribbons in the designated locations.
- Assist altarlter server(s)
- Ensures the cleanliness of the sacred vessels after Mass.
- Lock tabernacle and return key to Sacristy.
- Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally live out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043)
- Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, and conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause a scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.
- Ability to self-motivate, manage tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to provide an active welcome for parishioners, visitors, and volunteers
- Ability to provide compassionate attention to people in need and maintain confidentiality regarding these situations.
- Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups
- Experience within law enforcement or military equivalent would be ideal, however, ; howeverred
- Other tasks as assigned
