St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Littleton, Colorado, a thriving Parish with 3,500 families within the Archdiocese of Denver (AOD), is seeking a full time Director of Childrens Faith Formation.

Vision

The Childrens Faith Formation ministry responds to the movement of the Holy Spirit. This ministry incorporates more intentional opportunities for families to serve, worship, pray and encounter Jesus Christ together, focused on parents as the primary formator of the souls and consciences of their children. It provides programs in support of the everyday liturgical and living formation that takes place in the home, where children are more likely to practice the faith of their families, lived out on a day-to-day basis.

Role

The Director of Childrens Faith Formation is a member of the Parish Life team, which includes many ministries and programs. The Director is responsible for designing, developing, coordinating, and evaluating the Parish catechetical program for children in preschool through sixth grade. This role provides leadership to assist in the building of a solid faith foundation for the spirituality of both the children and their parents through Catholic Christian living, ministry, and outreach.

Responsibilities

The Director of Childrens Faith Formation is responsible for preschool through sixth grade catechetical programs that support lifelong learning in conformity with the National Catechetical Directory (NCD), AOD guidelines, parish needs and contemporary learning styles of the participants. The following are the Directors essential responsibilities:

Integrating insights from current catechetical literature and assessments of Parish needs into ministry vision, goals, strategies, and planning requirements.
Designing catechetical programs and overseeing the ongoing coordination and management of the ministry.
Supervising one full time and one part time staff member in support of ministry programs and needs.
Recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating Catechists for every grade level.
Ensuring the ministrys programs support the vision and goals of the Parish Life team and Pastor, collaborating with both the AOD Office of Family Life & Evangelization and networking with neighboring parishes as appropriate.
Working with Parish youth ministry staff to assure smooth formation transitions into youth programs for children and parents at the upper levels of the Childrens Faith Formation ministry.

Developing unique programs, specifically including:
Special religious education needs of Parish families.
One- or two-week summer faith programs for children (e.g., inhouse vacation Bible school, an external Totus Tuus program, etc.).
Creating and monitoring ministry income and expense budgets in collaboration with the Parish Life team and Finance office.
Obtaining resources (i.e., audio/visual, library, media, curriculum, and liturgical materials) to complement childrens faith formation efforts.
Coordinating liturgical/sacramental functions and prayer experiences.
Communicating with parents and the parish-at-large about ministry events.

Education and Experience

This position requires a mature, fully initiated practicing Catholic, who is actively living in accordance with the teachings of the Church and committed to ongoing personal and spiritual formation in the Catholic faith. In addition, the Parish is seeking the following qualifications in candidates for this position:

Five years of experience is preferred in childrens faith formation and/or a bachelors degree in theology, religious education, or a related field.
Certificate of Completion in the Denver Catholic Biblical School or Catechetical School is desirable.
Demonstrated passion in providing faith-based formation to both children and their parents.
Clear capabilities in Catholic theology, program coordination, Catechist development, relationship-building, and administration.
Excellence in public speaking and communications.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications.
