Qualifications
Non-Catholics or non-practicing Catholics with religious sensibilities will be considered.
A bachelor's degree in music or related field
Proficiency in choosing, directing, and presenting music from a wide range of styles and traditions
An understanding of and appreciation for Roman Catholic liturgy, traditions of prayer, and worship
Skill as a leader of congregational singing
Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills
Proficient in the use of computers and social media
Completed Safe Environment training per the Archdiocese of Denver (within 90 days)
A valid driving license and the ability to travel as may be required
Responsibilities
The Director of Music and Liturgy will facilitate the worship life of the parish community by coordinating and providing a quality liturgical experience that celebrates and strengthens the congregation's journey of faith.
Develop and implement plans to expand choir membership for regular and special liturgies
Develop and implement plans to further grow the ministry of instrumental and sung music
Plan and select all music associated with parish regular and special liturgies throughout the year, incorporating a variety of musical styles
Serve as accompanist for parish regular and special liturgies throughout the year.
Led parish choir and conducted weekly rehearsals
Coordinate substitute musicians as needed
Recruit, train, and sustain regular cantors and instrumentalists for all liturgies.
Prepare worship aids (weekly, seasonal, and others as needed)
Maintain current copyright licenses and adhere to all regulations regarding their usage
Send a detailed weekly email to Liturgical Ministers.
Prepare Prayer of the Faithful for parish regular and special liturgies.
Provide special blessings, rites, and rituals for liturgies as needed
Maintain sound system, instruments, equipment, altar microphones
Oversee new and ongoing formation of Liturgical Ministers: Music Ministers, Lectors, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Altar Servers, Ushers
Oversee quarterly scheduling of Liturgical Ministers
Order liturgical resources, lector workbooks, hymnals, etc
Coordinate recordings, and live streams of Masses as needed or requested (currently one weekly)
Be 'first-call' to provide music for funerals, weddings, and quinceaneras (private pay by family)
Establish Liturgy Committee as appropriate
Attend weekly staff meetings and other meetings as necessary
Work with the Business Manager to prepare and submit a yearly budget for music and liturgy.
Be the onsite contact for 3rd party concerts held on the premises (rare)
