Key Job Responsibilities (and KPIs for each: what success looks like in this role):

Oversee the support of the RCIA (English speaking context)

  • Initiating collaboration with lay leaders and clergy who have responsibility for the RCIA on the local level. Personally supporting (coaching) 1-2 RCIA Directors or parishes in an on-going basis.
  • Bringing about a uniformity in the formation provided by the RCIA across all parishes in the Archdiocese. Specifically, seeing meaningful shifts in our parishes to come into alignment with the norm of a 1-year catechumenate, helping to craft an approved curriculum for the catechumenate, and developing a model for year-round inquiry, catechumenate, and the neophyte year.
  • Helping to create and implement a vision for intentional accompaniment that applies to the RCIA (within a collaborative effort on the Evangelization Team).

 

Oversee the support of and increase in Evangelization efforts our of our parishes (English speaking context)

  • Initiating collaboration with lay leaders and clergy who have either the responsibility or passion for evangelization at their parish. Personally supporting (coaching) 1-2 leaders in an on-going basis.
  • Provide opportunities for local leaders (lay/clergy) to receive pastoral equipping in the area of evangelization through on-going workshops.

 

Oversee the implementation of a model for Intentional Accompaniment (English speaking context)

  • Understand the process of intentional accompaniment at a deep level through self-motivated study and being coached personally.
  • Finding meaningful and effective ways to implement this model into the RCIA and Evangelization support being provided.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other members of the Evangelization Team and EFLM Office in various initiatives/projects
  • Have input in and assist the Director in the creation and monitoring of the annual budget.
  • Remain current in the areas of theology and catechetics by studying the documents of the Catholic Church, specifically the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the General Directory for Catechesis, papal encyclicals and exhortations, and documents from the USCCB;

 

Other Duties as Assigned

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Requires an advanced degree in Theology or related field, and/or equivalent experience in parish/diocesan life.

 


COMPETENCIES and QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043);

Must refrain from promotion of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals;

Must be dynamic and enthusiastic about Catholicism and evangelization, taking a pivotal role in participating in the team efforts of the Office of Evangelization and Family Life Ministries;

Possess thorough understanding of evangelization and experience with various methodologies for the implementation thereof and possesses the ability to clearly and enthusiastically communicate the goals of evangelization, and to motivate others in sharing the faith with renewed enthusiasm and new methods;

Have an intimate knowledge of the RCIA, not only on a theological level but also on the practical level.

Ability to accompany individual parish leaders on a professional level.

An ability to establish rapport, putting people at ease;

show genuine interest in others' needs and feelings at appropriate times;

Must be a team player, passionate about collaboration between different ethnic communities in the Church.

Must demonstrate a spirit of humility, willing to learn and implement the particular vision of the Evangelization office and be coached by the Director of Evangelization.

An ability to adjust constructively and flexibly to meet the requirements of different work situations; maintain patience, confidence and composure under pressure or adverse circumstances without compromising the timely completion of job duties;

Must possess superior organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to maintain strict confidence regarding all information and issues addressed under this position, in the department and all other ecclesiastically related entities of the Archdiocese of Denver;

Must recognize sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.

 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Visual acuity both near and far, travel throughout the Archdiocese is required as needed, manual dexterity with good eye/hand coordination, good hearing, speech and the ability to operate computer and mouse, copier, printer and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
