Summary/Objective:

Work on a team to equip, coach, and support volunteers to lead fun and loving weekly experiences where children are encouraged to develop relationships with Christ and their church family.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the ministry vision and strategy by assisting, supporting, and empowering volunteers.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and equipping volunteers to lead children confidently and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively to maintain a kid-friendly, safe, clean environment and wins parents' trust.
  • Be present in Kids Ministry areas during specific services on weekends.
  • Ensure that the ministry area is prepared to receive children and their families with proper staffing, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure that ministry areas/supplies are cleaned properly following weekend services and prepared for the weekday schedule on Sunday night.
  • Know the curriculum and guide, direct, and explain lessons/activities to volunteers as needed to carry out the curriculum strategy weekly.
  • Assist in developing volunteers through informal training and personal relationships.
  • Ensure that proper security and risk management procedures are observed.
  • Foster relationships with children, families, and volunteers in a manner that preserves and furthers the integrity of the ministry.
  • Report relevant information to the Directors every week.
  • Participate in recruitment events, special ministry events, training, and community-building events as required by the Kids Pastor.
  • Pursue growth opportunities approved by the Kids Pastor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Time Requirement:

2.5 to 5 hours per week(end), occasional evenings, Christmas Eve, and Easter services as needed.

 

Work Environment:

This job operates in a church/classroom facility and uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desktop computers, and telephones.

 

Professional/Education

  • 2+ years working with children, preferably some experience in a ministry or teaching setting.
  • Proficient communication and computer skills.
  • Able to lead, coach, develop and support volunteers.
  • Able to lead a classroom or small group of children without volunteers.
  • Have a love for children and Kids Ministry.
  • Be positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous, and professional.
  • Be able to assess and prioritize needs calmly and collectedly.
  • Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Spiritual

  • A faithful, growing Christ-follower deepening their relationship with Christ models this to others.
  • A passionate desire to see people come to know, love, and follow Christ in the context of authentic community.
