Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Line Cook/Prep to prepare daily meals for family style group of students and faculty. We serve scratch-made cooking to a large group so the ability to adjust recipes for quantity is a must. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in culinary arts with a knowledge of various cuisines and creativity. They must adhere to health and safety standards to provide customers with the best possible product.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces and soups)
- Cooking menu items in cooperation with the Chef and staff
- Assist in serving family style meals
- Scratch cooking in large quantities
- Participate in menu planning with Chef
- Maintain inventory FIFO and reordering needs
- Maintain clean and orderly cooking stations and adhere to health and safety standards
Requirements:
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service, any and all parts of meal plan
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a Line Chef, Restaurant Cook or Prep Cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Culinary school diploma preferred; 1-2 years experience in professional kitchen
