Full Job Description

Mission 98 partners with churches to share the love of God and good news of Jesus with adults, teens and children living in motels, mobile homes and apartment communities in the Lakewood-Denver metro area. Mission 98’s ministries take place at multiple sites and include kids’ clubs, tutoring, homework help, youth nights, adult outreach, food and clothing relief, Bible studies, community meals and special events, all of which are focused on building relationships that convey the goodness and love of God.

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of:

Ministry Associate (PT)--Immediate Opening

Primary Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the Mission 98 ministry team, help lead ministry programs while building relationships with children, teens and adults that convey the love of God and good news of Jesus.
  • Your specific role on the team will be shaped by your passions, calling and talents but a key component will be leading children’s ministry (e.g., Kids Clubs, homework help, tutoring) on site at motel, mobile homes and apartment communities. You will also provide leadership in some combination of adult ministries (e.g., community meals, food/clothing relief, bingo) and special events (e.g., backpack distribution, Christmas parties, carnivals). As you gain experience with different parts of Mission 98’s ministry, we desire to shape your role to focus on your areas of giftedness and calling.
  • Bring creative and caring leadership to children’s ministries and other ministry areas
  • Train, coordinate and support volunteers and interns in ministry to at-risk children and families with guidance from senior ministry staff
  • Manage administrative tasks for children’s programs and your other areas of ministry leadership, such as scheduling, communication and record keeping

Additional Responsibilities:

  • As a ministry team member, assist with other ministry programming and events as needed
  • Collaborate with church and ministry partners to promote Mission 98 and encourage mobilization for mission
  • Participate in mission team visits, intern programming and development events
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, retreats and events
  • Complete quarterly ministry plans and reports

Qualifications

  • A committed Christian who demonstrates a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Passion for Mission 98’s mission to share the love and good news of Christ with children, teens and adults in motels, mobile homes and apartment communities
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with and/or willingness to learn from culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged populations
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) and/or bi-cultural preferred
  • Able to teach Bible lessons and lead Bible studies
  • Experience working with children
  • Able to plan and implement children’s ministry programming
  • Able to recruit, train and encourage volunteers
  • Healthy work ethic and commitment to personal and professional growth by seeking and applying feedback from Mission 98 co-workers and leadership

20 hrs/wk. Some evenings and weekend hours required. Base salary $800-1000/mo plus training for additional support raising. Potential to become full-time. Immediate opening.
