Join the Blessed Beginnings team as the Post Adoption Specialist. The Post Adoption Specialist is responsible for providing ongoing post adoption services to adoptive families, birth families and adult adoptees. Their role will also be responsible for facilitating educational classes for individuals and families who are clients of Catholic Charities Programs. They educate on topics such as, but not limited to parenting and prenatal care.

The Expertise We're Looking For

Associate Degree; or

Two (2) years of professional nonprofit experience in a similar position in lieu of Education

One (1) years of experience working with pregnant women, young children, and infants

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

You have knowledge of prenatal care, child development, attachment and bonding, and family dynamics.

You have strong verbal and written communication skills.

You have thorough knowledge of the Catholic Social Teachings.

You demonstrate knowledge of social work principles and ethics.

You demonstrate success in dealing with a variety of people, clients, and volunteers.

You have knowledge of issues and problems faced by low-income individuals.

You have knowledge of community resources available for low-income individuals.

You have the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines concurrently.

You have the ability to handle and maintain confidential information.

You have the ability to work with online databases.

You have knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, Outlook).

What you Deliver

You provide direct client service delivery, assessments, individual counseling, search and reunion services, courtreferrals, birth family histories, family connections, family visits, and intermediary services.

You submit monthly PIR’s, monthly hours report, reimbursements, and other administrative duties.

You maintain adoption records and the transfer of records to the Docuware system.

You collaborate with Blessed Beginnings Director in the development of the annual operating budget and work plan,securing accurate service statistics and keeping supervisor apprised of service issues, trends and complications.

You establish a trusting and professional relationship with pregnant women and their families or women withnewborns, infants, young children and/or toddlers seeking pregnancy and parenting classes or case coordination.

You teach life skills in English and Spanish to pregnant women and parents of young children. Classes are based onapproved curriculum content and materials which may be ready to present or may require additionaldevelopment, such as updates and/or tailoring for specialized client needs.

You provide individuals case coordination to women seeking support during pregnancy and after birth. Includesfacilitating parent education, and referrals to internal programs and other programs in the community.

You co-facilitate classes which include in-person classes and Zoom classes with other bilingual family supportspecialists and program supervisor to create class lessons.

You provide mentoring information, resources, and referrals to clients requesting assistance.

You coordinate with SMHC staff to schedule hours each week to facilitate client services.

You assess, advocate and help address any needs for the St. Michael’s pregnant youth, mothers and/or their children.

You provide weekly education sessions, including individual and group sessions at St Michael’s.

You participate in the St. Michael’s Pre-Treatment Team Meetings to inform on clients progress and discuss client’sparenting and pregnancy needs.

You maintain contact with St. Michael’s medical team to provide and receive information from physician, GYN,obstetrician, and pediatrician regarding clients.

You provide weekly and monthly reports for services provided to SMHC clients.

You enroll eligible clients into the Texas Pregnancy Care Network (TPCN) System.

You bill for services provided to TPCN eligible clients within the system.

You attend approved and required professional development opportunities. Maintains all licenses, certificates,and/or trainings as required by funders, program, and/or agency.

You maintain client electronic records in compliance with agency policies and procedures, COA standards, and allapplicable legal requirements, including HIPAA.

You enter all applicable client information into the agency's database in a timely and accurate manner.

You prepare and submits all required administrative reports and documentation within given deadlines withoutcompromising quality.

You participate in and are responsive to quality and compliance activities, including the agency's record review and qualitative review process, as well as incident reporting practices.

You participate in staff retreats, United Way tours, agency fairs and speaking engagements, as well as assist with special organizational projects/events, etc.

You perform other duties as assigned.
