Blessed Sacrament Catholic School seeks a caring, cooperative, and motivated full-time preschool paraprofessional and after-school care teacher. A Blessed Sacrament preschool paraprofessional partners with the Early Childhood Teacher in the classroom to help children grow and develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically, and spiritually. The paraprofessional will need communicative, collaborative, and organizational skills and a desire to be part of mission-driven school culture.
The after-school care teacher is hired by and directly accountable to the principal. The after-school care teacher is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the local school, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Office of Catholic Schools. The after-school care teacher cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.
Requirements:
Experience working with children ages 2-5
Being on your feet 80-90% of the time
Going up and down multiple flights of stairs daily
Getting onto and off of the floor to sit or squat to meet children's eye levels
Colorado early childhood leveled credential.
Be a fully initiated and active Catholic who teaches and acts by the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Safe Environment Training (can be earned after hire)
Preferences:
Associate or Bachelors's degree
Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) qualifications
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists and supports the Early Childhood Teacher in maintaining a safe, clean learning environment for all children in their care
Maintains a cooperative attitude of working together with their assigned teacher, parents, and other staff in planning and implementing activities
Exhibits a genuine nurturing and caring attitude towards all children
Assists the lead teacher and other staff in maintaining discipline and supervision of children during classroom activities, lunch, recess, nap time, and special events
Maintains a positive, calm attitude with a soft voice and encourages this attitude and vote in others working in the classroom
Communicates effectively and charitably with families, teachers, and staff
Supervises children and assists special teachers during specials (P.E., Spanish, etc.)
Assumes the Early Childhood Teachers' full role in the absence of that teacher
Attends all required staff training and meetings
Maintains professional profile on PDIS and complies with all school, state, and federal preschool requirements and regulations
Follows established confidentiality, safety, and emergency procedures
Know, teach, and act consistently by the mission, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Blessed Sacrament Catholic school
Provide careful and adequate supervision of children's activities
Assist in the implementation of Colorado child care licensing regulations
Lead groups of children in a variety of activities
Carry out objectives developed for the Archdiocese of Denver
Assist children in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior set by the program
Use proactive strategies to guide appropriate behavior with positive reinforcement.
Cooperate with other staff to create and maintain a harmonious social environment
Interact positively with parents and refer appropriate questions and concerns to the after-school care director
Maintain a clean and safe physical environment
Report unsafe equipment or program supply concerns to appropriate supervisors
